Recently I found myself looking for a holster for my Remington R1 Commander.

For my Glock I use either a dropleg or belt mounted Safariland holster, or a kydex IWB holster.
Or a Kastinger tanker-style holster.

While the tanker holster works for my 1911, and I even got a USGI belt holster plus the WWII leather tanker holster for the 1911, for some courses and trainings those are not suitable.

I ended up ordering myself a Raven Concealment Phantom Modular Holster including a mag carrier

what do you guys use on what occasion?

I have a Milt Sparks Summer Special II I use at the range, it keeps the pistol snug and comfortable. Maybe not a great competition holster but for general range use I like it.

For 3 gun and most range use its a soley canadian but for ipsc it's a ghost however I recently bought my wife a cr speed becouse she was nervous about using a ghost holster and now I find myself liking the cr speed a bit more then my ghost. I've also had good luck with bladetech and raven however once I used a soley canadian I sold my ravens.

Wow, that looks great. Does it keep its form for reholstering, or does it collapse?

The Milt Sparks Summer Special is a classic holster. It is stiff enough and holds it's shape after the draw. Like all leather holsters, you really need to break it in to ensure a smooth and quick draw. The holster is roughen on the outside to help retention, using friction.

This was the premium leather IWB holster from the 80s. Just about every US gun pro used one.

I just use a Blade-Tech, but the Davis Gunsite Omega has a certain old-school charm if you want to go with leather.

G code holster with thumb drive hood release. I run mine with a G code mule and single strap thigh platform. Very versatile and highly configurable. Sorry no pics

As someone else said, its stiff enough to retain its shape for re-holstering, its a one handed procedure. Mine hasn't seen a lot of use, only at the range for a few hours at a time over the last 5? years. I imagine that over time with constant use it could start to lose its shape and rigidity due to sweat, wear n tear, etc.

This one is the only iwb holster I've ever tried so I have nothing to compare it to but it seems to work well. The holster is really minimal, the trigger and safety are well protected yet don't interfere with drawing. No need to adjust grip after the pistol clears. It holds tight on pistols with either GI style or higher blade front, but there is no allowance for a rail (at least not on the one I have.)

I have a Fobus strong side holster for occasional 3 gun and a black leather holster and belt I made for Wild Bunch. I want one of the replica US army leathet holster sets whenever Marstar gets them back in stock, I'd make one but I couldn't get the leather and hardware for what they're selling the whole unit for.
