any one try aguila subsonic 40 grn 22lr

I built a up a stash of aguila ammo when my local crappy tire had lots of it, including the subsonic 40gr...it's been good to me, all of it has been accurate, reliably fires, plus I like the smell of eley lol

not sure on the exact details but they use eley primer technology, if you google it you'll find some reading material...I stopped googling after it proved to shoot good in all my guns

I found it was no worse than anything else including the bucket-o-soot. Subsonic by only 200fps I think (1050 fps or so?)

For me, I'd only take it if it was the last brand left, as I would rather have hollow points.

edit, checked the speed of sound and Aguila's site. The subsonic rounds fall just under.

Lots around here as well but does it have Eley primers ??

well as I can get it locally I think I will try a brick before I get a whole case. I shoot a lot of cci sv and sk standard plus. as long as it shoots close to the cci sv its all good.

I've used it. It's better than any bulk ammo, but that's not saying much. It was six or seven dollars a box at CT. It might be comparable in accuracy with CCI SV, which of course is not a gold standard.

A reply that it isn't any good is a stretch. Not an accurate statement. What shoots well in one gun may be a turd in others. Any many shooters know that there will be guns that like it and some that don't just to condemn it isn't a true statement. Go and buy a couple of boxes and see what it shoots like in your gun.It also depends on what you are shooting, gophers, paper, tin cans.Quality of the gun.

They subsonics shoot better out of my savage MKii then CCI standards do, they were actually the best shooting out of something silly like 15 different types of ammunition that I tried out of that rifle.

Generally subsonic s are acceptable for target and paper shooting. I participate in a steel chicken shoot a few times a year with about 20+ shooters just for fun not serious and no one shoots the steel with hv ammo it is all done with subsonic and some shoot 38 out of 40 with real accuracy. 25 yd 50yd 75yd and 100yd. You just have to keep a dope sheet to record the ammo performance. Hv is out of the question at that shoot. Aguila is used often. On my first visit some fellows said what try subsonic and you will be surprised and I was.

Did some ammo testing today 5-shot groups Aguila Subsonic shot 0.761" @ 50 yards with my Savage MKII BTVS. Aguila Std. Velocity was better at 0.58". I'd use it if it was the only thing on the shelf but I am getting better results with other brands.

You could try some Aguila HV I found it better than the Aguila Standard

I too find it varies to much. I ve shoot some tight groups with it and some shot gun patterns at the same target. Too inconsistent for me I have to many other better grouping ammo available.
