Rossi Big Loop - I hate it!!

It's for spin cocking the gun, which you can actually do if the gun is slick

Chuck Connor's "the Rifleman" had the big loop; Steve McQueen (Josh Randall) had the mare's leg on Wanted: Dead or Alive. Think the both pre-dated the Duke's involvement, but I could be corrected.

I removed the ring and replaced it with a loop of parachord.
I like the "gun bucket" style approach to holstering, preferably cross draw.
That looks OK but still a looong draw to get it out and the sights could easily hang up, specially with a proper height front sight.. I'll take a single point sling any day.
It's not really a quick draw rig, more somewhere to put the unit to keep it from flopping around or just while using bino's. I like the single point bungee slings as well and a cross draw bucket holster could be combined easily with a single point sling for some extra flop reduction while scrambling.
Almost makes me mad I ditched the ring, cool holster!
I wasn't a fan either but I also disliked all the holsters I tried. So I hang it by the ring. 1.5 inch lift to draw instead of 12 to 14 " I've packed it all day hiking, berry picking, cutting trails, packing into lakes. And I'm still thinking about modifying the big leaver loop someday.

I carry mine for self defense from aggressive animals while I am walking my dogs or whatever and if I do need the gun, I need it now! I don't think I would use anything that could interfere with that and, even though I have never tried one of those, I feel that bucket could easily interfere with getting the gun in play quickly. That said I do like MRP's idea except that the weight of the gun would be on a belt on my waist and I don't think I would like that very much plus it would be moving with your leg/hip movements which I think I would find irritating also. Just my opinions, but for all those reasons I like the single point sling and consider it to be the best alternative for me.
The single point bungee sling works great and for your needs makes perfect sense, specially given that your gun has a red dot and flashlight that would make most any holster awkward. Add in a full length buttstock and holster doesn't make much sense.
A red dot as mounted on your ranchhand, and a bungee sling to create some tension as you push forward on the gun, is a quick and accurate setup. Many people don't like the short mare's leg stocks( And I get it) but the way you have yours set up is quite effective for a mare's leg stock.

I just found that even with the single point and red dot I couldn't shoot it worth s**t with the mares leg stock, specially with my full power loads, plus it took me forever to find the red dot in the sight to get it on target. Mine came with a holster and after I tried it a few times I quickly sold it on the EE. My arms are way to short to get a good draw on a gun this long. I think the best holster would be something that is open in the front and has a small "bucket" for the muzzle and holds the receiver with either a steel clip or magnets covered in leather so you could draw more forward than up. Kind of like some IPSC holsters I've seen.
