How do you size your 7 mm brass?

Just wondering how you all resize your 7 mm rem mag brass. FL or NS? Anybody having any issues Fl sizing( case bulge?). What do you find the best. Would there be any issues with FL sizing every time? I have a set of RCBS FL dies.

I use a full length sizing die to set my shoulders back .003". I prefer the full length die so I know I won't have feeding issues when it counts.

Use lots of lube!!! 7 mag brass was the first cartridge I got stuck in a die.. big pain in the "you know what"!

I switched from Redding (stuck case) to RCBS and haven't had any issues. I don't think it was a problem with the Redding dies, just my fault for going light on sizing lube..

I have not noticed any bulging with stout loads. Current load is 160gr Game King with IMR 7828 in Nosler brass with CCI #250 @ 3100fps

Ya I've been doing a lot of reading on bumping back the shoulder, but I have no tool or idea how to measure this withou one , I'm just FL sizing. I've screwed my die in , so it just barely touches the shell holder( no cam over). This seems to be good. I tryed backing the die out about a turn or so , so I could neck size only , but I could push the bullit into the case after seating. So I gave up on that and went to the FL sizing. I don't mind FL sizing as long as I don't start getting Case separation .

You need either the Hornady or Sinclair tool. Get both attachments for headspace and ogive so you can produce very accurate loads

RCBS fl dies. I've only been loading handgun and .223 semi so only been fl sizing. I've only just started with the 7 mm. Are those tools available in CA or should I just go to Brownels?

I use a FL die and Redding completion shell-holders. I start with the die screwed down hard + 1/4 turn on the .010" over shell-holder and use it for a few loadings until there's a bit too much effort to close the bolt. Then I'll take a single case and go down through the series until there's a tiny bit of resistance or depending on the rifle maybe .002" past that. Then I write the number and rifle on the die box and thats the setting for that rifle. If another rifle in that caliber shows up it may get its own shell-holder note but the die will never move again.

I'm sure xreload has them also you might want to get a die that allows you to change bushings so you get proper neck tension.
Cheers

Yes completion she'll holders are awesome I've got three set . 223,308 , 300 win you can't go wrong

So with this method , the only other step is to trim when needed?

Yes that was my plan , but you still need to bump the shoulders right? The Redding competition shell holders sound easier though.

Sure, neck size for 5-10 loadings, then you can anneal, and bump the shoulder back a bit, you don't have to do it very often depending on the quality of the brass.
"Hard to chamber" means different things to different people. Some resistance when closing the bolt isn't really a bad thing, some people don't like it and think that's the time to bump.

Well I've decided on the RCBS NS die and the Sinclair comparitor /bump gage body. And a Hornady OAL gage. I couldn't find a Sinclair OAL insert.

Thanks for the help.
