No4 mk1* sporter question PICS ADDED, BOUGHT IT.

It should clean up alright, looking forward to pulling it apart when I get home tomorrow. Has a 2 groove barrel by the looks of it, I forgot my go & no go guages at home so I'll give the headspace a check as well. Forend is a little loose and I'll have to do some thinking on what I'll use it for. I'm kind of leaning to keeping it sportered if it's a good shooter, will make a good bush/hunting gun and I can always desporter it if I'm so inclined. Range test will be in order for sure once it's cleaned and oiled. I'll try and get a better pic of the bore, it's really shiny.

looks like a good candidate for restoration.

Rear sight, I would keep my eyes open for a Mk3 ladder sight.

the bolt is forced matched but properly marked.

safety is an early LB one.

for the purist it should have a zamac but plate not brass, but really either is correct.

you need 3 barrel bands, fore stock and both peices of the top wood, along with the fore sight protector and a sling swivel and your in business.

Well I gave it a good cleaning when I got home, man it was filthy. It cleaned up nicely after I pulled it all apart, all the surface rust came off with some 00 steel wool and oil. Bolt closes on the no go but won't close on the field guage, pretty much just like my no1 and I shoot it semi regularly, will keep an eye out for a LB #2 bolt head. The forend tightened up nicely, my no4 mag is a bit tight when inserting it but it does lock in and feed dummy rounds. Will try to fit the mag better once I shoot it, I'm tempted to keep it as is for now if it's a good shooting rifle but I'll be on the lookout for LB parts in the future, a rear sight is top of the list.

Here's a couple pics after I cleaned and oiled it, best I could do for bore/rifling pics after dark. Bore is way shinier than the pics make it look, I though the muzzle would look worse, it was the rustyiest part after I started digging into it.
