Quantity of your reserve

It would literally take hours to count my loaded ammo for all 200 odd firearms that I have. Then possibly days to count the components to replenish the loaded supplies.........and hours more to count the brass in various stages of preparation to be loaded.......A good guess of brass and loaded ammo would exceed 100,000 pieces...........Bring on Anarchy I'm ready !!!!!!!

I generally have factory or loaded ammo ready to last me years at my current rate. Since i reload, the search for inexpensive components never stops.

One mans inflamatory CBC news story for excessive ammo "hoard" is another mans cause for concern at the shortage. One member here has a powder "bunker" probably having more powder of one type than i do in total for a dozen.

That is crazy. That is a massive ammo cache.

I have 10 30-06. That is enough for 10 hunting seasons
100 22lr that is 100 gophers after all. Doubt I will see 100 anyway.
I think I bought to much ammo

Either your mother or your wife doesn't allow you out alone much??? Either that or you are just really frugal. Your game must be pretty close if you only use one round per year. Don't you bother to check the POI is in line with the sights??

HI; What was normal years ago no longer applies.
Now it get what you can when you see it so the other hoarders do not get it all.
Hunters and shooters are two different people. Need and want are the new normal.

In my case the want has exceeded the need for a good many years. Very few trips for me to a gunshop where I don't snag something in the component end of things.

I hate having to reload every week so I try and have 1-2 days per month of reloading my "common" calibres. Spring/summer are heavy competition months so I try to have these round counts at the start of every month and load enough to stay there for the summer/fall season:
2000 rounds 9mm
2000 rounds 45 acp
1000 rounds 223
500 rounds 308

I try to keep around 250 rounds of .44mag and 250 rounds of 45/70 for occasional blasting session at the range with friends.

My wife and I shoot about 25 matches a year each, I like to maintain enough stock that we are good for 2 years without worrying about resupply.
7 "P" principle; proper preparation and planning prevent piss poor performance!

Don't try and keep up with the Joneses or we'll all go broke. I've been saving up some ammo over the years and have been doing less shooting.

Guesstimates

4k rounds 22lr
1.5k 9mm
8k 7.62x39
2.5k 556
200 7.62x54

I'll start shooting more this summer but expect I wont be stocking back to these numbers, money just isn't there for it anymore.

I have...quite a bit. Haven't counted rounds, but I have enough to make me think I'm ready for when the revolution starts. :p

Don't live with my mom and don't have a wife.
Check point of aim on a deer lol.

All joking aside the total of what I have is for me to know not the internet.

^^this^^ is what i have been trying to do for a while now but somehow still end up loading each week. I see ammo and think "oooo hey i have lots i can shoot more!"

:) Good one. I don't keep track of the exact numbers either. A 'number' of the calibres I have are a little off of the beaten path.
- 219 Donaldson Wasp
- 7x61 S&H
- 308 Norma Magnum
- 348 WCF
- 9.3x62
- 375 Chatfield Taylor
I 'prefer' to use brass with the appropriate headstamp and do so, with the exception of the 219 Donaldson Wasp and the 375 Chatfield Taylor. Those I have to fireform. My brass is basically stored in individual stackable plastic trays, one for each calibre, in my reloading room.

So, when I come across any, say at gun shows, that I 'may' need, if the price is decent, I grab it.
