If you want Deer, I have a .243 Savage. 100 grain nosler partition bullets have dropped a few deer for me, so it is a great Deer calibre. If your aspirations are just for Deer and possibly black bear, as well as varmints, it is a great choice ( has been for me)

I really enjoyed reading all of the posts, and appreciate the advice/experience thanks all. I went with a Savage Model 11 in .243 I purchased from 3screwsloose as my choice.
