Picked up a new toy off the EE, a Ruger American Rimfire in 22LR. First impressions, I like it! Despite the cheap looking plastic stock it actually feels better than the Savage FV-SR I had previously. The quality of the finish is also much higher in my opinion. The trigger breaks like glass with absolutely no creep whatsoever. In order of my favourite rimfire triggers that I have owned I would have to put them in this order: Kidd two stage for my 10/22, this Ruger, Brimstone Tier 1 for my 10/22 and stock Savage accutrigger. Ruger BX-10 magazines are a big improvement over the Savage mags as well. And the best part? I don't need to spend a bunch more money in order to get a proper cheek weld! I won't know how well it shoots until I can get to the range again in a couple of weeks. I've got a wide variety of ammo to test it out with and will report back.

Here it is with a Nikon Prostaff Rimfire II 3-9x40 BDC mounted on Warne 22 rings (glad I went with high rings and not medium):

Pull that fooney balooney paddle off the trigger and you should get it down to about one pound oh pull.
Been a while since I puttered with mine.
Rimfire central should have the ins and outs of phart'n round with these.

I have the same rifle in 22mag! I really like mine! One of the action bolts (?) came loose and the whole barrel and everything was walking up and down in the stock. Make sure yours are snug!

Aside from that, its a pretty decent gun! It's fairly easy to hit a tack at 25 yards (nothing crazy but I'm not a very good shooter to begin with lol)

At 50 yards I have no issue going 3/3 on empty shot gun shells. With a clean cool barrel and 40 grain CCI ammunition its fairly consistent :)

Interesting. This doesn't negatively affect the trigger operation?

I have it torqued to 35 in-lbs as per factory specs for now. I will play with it a bit though as I have read somewhere that better accuracy may be achieved by tweaking the torque on the action bolts.

I just got mine on Monday. I got the 18 inch model with the threaded muzzle. I sold my Savage MK2 to get this one. The bluing is awesome. I really like the open sights and Ruger mags. After trying the extended magazine release I will get one for my 10/22.
It's a quality built rifle. I even like the stock. I had planned on buying a Boyds. I think it will add too much weight if I swap out stock.

Where did you find the threaded model? I've been looking for one.

If yer club fisted maybe, but no, it works great.
Then agin, most my shewters are couple pounds or less.
Grew up with a double set trigger as my first hunting rifle.

I've actually decided to teach my 11 year old nephew to shoot with this one so I am going to leave the trigger alone for now. A 1 lbs pull might be too much, too soon. Thanks for the info though, I will keep it in mind for the future.

aftermarket stuff is starting to come out for them too, which i like as im like to dress my guns up a little.

only thing i didnt like about mine initially is how tight some of the mags where in the gun, but they carve their own channel in there over time, plastic vs plastic.

Where did you get the extended bolt handle and how much? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post in public. Thanks!
