Hi Guys,

I think I may have made a boo boo?? I put a snap cap into my Versa Max intending to try some reloading/manipulation exercises- I pull the bolt back, put snap cap into receiver via ejection port, release bolt, pull trigger. Now the bolt seems like it's locked into the forward position? Anyone ever experience this? Is this b/c the Versa Max is an autoloader?

I own a Versa and can't explain why this would be happening to yours. I suppose the next step would be to try a 'mortar drill' technique to open the bolt carrier.

I did this with my Versa Max the day I got it, snap cap in pulled the trigger and the bolt stuck forward, I had to rotate the bolt with a screw driver by prying on the top of receiver to turn bolt head. If you try this pad the top of the receiver so not the mark it up or it'll scared for life like my gun. It's a good gun just don't run snap caps after this.

Oh wow, here I thought I was the only one! Did you eventually figure out why the bolt stuck forward? It seems so strange... Ouch on your receiver too! How exactly did you pry the receiver to turn the bolt head? Which direction?

With my gun, I think it was the cheap plastic snap cap mushroomed at the rim and got stuck. Just pull it out of the safe to remember how I did it, looks like I pryed on top corner bolt face side of the receiver, that was to push the bolt body back. The junk snap cap was stopping the bolt from rotating, and I just forced it open with the wrong tool that day.

Its called mortaring because it mimics the effect dropping a mortar bomb down a tube. Because you used to place the bomb in and than slam it down the tube the rest of the way.

So this case you grab the barrel at a distance from the ground and bang it against the ground like said while holding the charging handle.

Woohoo, thanks so much TrailGunner/OkayShooter/adamg! Hitting the buttstock on the ground whilst pulling down on the bolt did the trick! Stupid plastic snap caps! I have no idea why they even sell them if they don't work??
