Well one could find out how much more accurate the vz is compared to the ak family in a percent format, then do the mathematical equation to compare the chinese assessment of "the type 81 being 40% more accurate than the ak family", and compare the two and have an idea of how the accuracy of the vz compares to the 81.....

Or we could just shoot them when they arrive.

I like plan 2 better.

Lol.. Fence line I'm beginning to appreciate you more everyday man!!!

I'm in! This is going to be a loooong 6 month(ish) wait!!!!! Will we at least get to see actual pictures of both of the production fixed and folding versions before we make up our minds on which one we want? If I only had the money, I would of course order both! :)

Alright so Fenceline is an 81 buyer and can get a buddy to bring a 58 over. And they shoot the same ammo at 100...

Yeah I know - just joshing you. It'll be interesting to see the results.

Me too. I have no problem believing the Type 81 is more accurate than an AK. Will try a couple of sks against it, and the vz. I think the vz will win, I hope the 81 makes it very close though. Or proves me wrong against the vz. That would be an interesting find. I'd be very happy to find out they are on par.

Soooooo i looked pictures of in service T81's and they're all parkerized... So not sure why some of you were expecting a blued gun...

Almost time to pull out the "r" word, they're going all squirrely over the finish of what is basically a working prototype. I'd bet half of them haven't even see a real military rifle in person, they don't tend to polish the metal never mind a nice blued finish.

I was actually just about to say the same thing. Many in photos are parkerized. I think many people saw pictures and the YouTube video of the Norinco prototype for US commercial sales... It was blued.

I stopped at about page 5 as the stupid was beginning to give me a headache. I just tried going backwards only made it through 4 this time...I settled for a random scan of any good quotes.

The dollar, 1,000 unit production run, and a redesign of the receiver because the Type 81 used by the military is FA, means no way a $700 price tag is going to happen. How many M-305 have been made over the last ten years? How about CQ-A's? I swear some of you must be twelve years old to not realize that $1000 isn't unreasonable in the grand scheme of things. That or so stupid I marvel at how you can string together a few words to make a sentence...

I think I might just try to get in on the pre-order, I should be able to squirrel away $1k by the fall...Guess I'm back to a stripped lower for my new AR.

Is that a grenade launcher on the muzzle of those rifles?

Yes.

It will be on the non-restricted ones.

I posted a few pages back, the Chinese production team thought we were not allowed to own grenade launchers in Canada. They got this idea presumably because the U.S. Cannot have these items in some states, such as California etc. Yugo M59/66's and MAS 49/56's are banned there because they have a GL.

When they TI told the Chinese they were legal in Canada, the Chinese said they will add them.

So the TI Type 81 WILL have grenade launcher :)
