Really hoping the Type 81 turns out to be a winner that can fill the boots left by the Cz 858. It seems like the last couple of new imports have popped onto the market, and then faded out.

What do you mean? I doubt the Type 81 will out perform the Cz858/Vz58 series.

When you have to wait so long and pay in full... but there's still 168 people that voted YES. Don't know what the initial run is, maybe they're making 500 units??? This is why I'm going to wait until they come into stock to see what the deal is. I did the pre-sale thing before and the constant delays really rubbed me the wrong way. I'll definitely consider an In Stock, well reviewed firearm. If I miss the boat, oh well. Can't buy everything. If it's a success, I'm sure they'll make another production run.

I was just throwing a # out there to make my point that there will probably be some left over as they will probably not sell that many pre-orders. I'll wait until the firearm gets in country and see what happens.

What do you mean? I doubt the Type 81 will out perform the Cz858/Vz58 series.

It remains to be seen. The Vz.58 derivatives that have come into Canada have had various issues. They were still good purchases as $750-$800, but I think it's harder to rationalize buying one for twice that.

In any case, the Cz 858 is no longer coming into the country, and the Type 81 could fill that void in the marketplace.

Another point, they also said that it may take 3 years for a second batch since China military is rearming with a new modular rifle
