That 858 sale was a clown and pony show... their website went down. I was there, nothing would load. Took people an hour to checkout their rifle. Unsure if the 958 is still in the works or not, haven't heard a peep about it since the 858 and Type 81 hype.

958??? Where have you been hiding?

I don't care if they take AK mags, what's so dam great about them anyway? I like the bolt hold open feature it let you know there's no rounds in it. How can that be bad?

Besides if you can afford $29 for a mag you shouldn't be buying a rifle because you can't afford bullets either
The want for AK mag compatability had little to nothing to do with price, it was the possible AK pistol mags that IRG was trying to make happen that made people want it.

958??? Where have you been hiding?

I also have a life to live, not following every Red Rifle when I have one of the nicest woody VZ58's already...

If the Type 81 is good, I'll buy one in the future when they flood the market and the price drops.

It is also ridiculous how all prices have gone up. 58s, 97s, everything.

Our dollar is up 1% according to the chart , is the $1000 rifle now $10 cheaper? Lol
I bet when/if our dollar is on par again prices will still be the same or higher and not drop. Happens everytime. Our dollar goes down , prices go up. Our dollar goes up , prices stay the same or still go up lol.

Only until a distributor wants to sell more product than the other one.... so he posts it cheaper, then they post it cheaper, till things naturally balance out again....

My last 58 was $375 and the dealer made money. So...inflation and the dollar accounts for the price tripling? Anyhow, price is secondary to fit, finish and accessories.

I get the impression that the cheap surplus stocks are depleted, and it seems its no longer possible to convert any more select fire receivers to semiauto, so that leaves manufacturing them from scratch. From the looks of things even bare newly manufactured receivers are worth at least $375 now, in the U.S. market.

Could be. I calculated my $375 rifle is now $540. What gets ost in the 'I'll pay anything!" frenzy is that more expensive the gun, the fewer there are, and easier for out enemies to call for a ban because a ban "really doesn't affect too many and we can get away with it."

When has that happened in the firearm industry? Not trying to start an argument, honestly want a good example.

Cant remember any examples cus the dollar has been falling for the last 4 years ! lol but do you honestly think a store selling an $900 Glock at $1300 CAD ...or a $1000 VZ at $1400 CAD is going to be able to do so once the dollar is back on par again ?? lol if they did, IRUNGUNS would make a killing Importing stuff from the States ! haha.

So if these are due by Q3, what does that mean for an approximate date?

Pre-orders I've taken part in have always been late. One of the reasons why I don't participate in them anymore, unless it's a small, refundable down payment.

Half of you guys will buy em', then dump em' on the EE in a month.

I waited 6 months for an HK45, went on the EE a week later after I got it (didn't like it). Other retailers had them in stock a month before I got mine.

Agree with you entirely.

Nick seems to be a solid guy. Purchased a couple of firearms with him over the years, and enjoyed some good conversation.

But the nature of the deal is too ambiguous for my liking. I'm not insinuating it's going to go south. For me, I had $1000 to spend and thought I'd try my luck with the last batch of 858's. A tried 'n true platform, and quite possibly this last batch was the last of their kind.

If the Type 81 proves to be a good rifle, you bet yer butt you'll have plenty of opportunities to grab them later. And good for the early adopters! Hope they're terrific rifles and all reports are glowing. Just couldn't personally justify the funds for both, and ultimately went with the sure thing.
