It's not a value either. AKs must have certain US parts, so they cost more. If these have AK side rail these are ideal. Nobody will have to pour anything more into this. Just clip on a scope rail. If they are indeed co-designers of this rifle, they can have this done.

That's true, plus Arsenal U.S.A. has to convert them from neutered sporting configuration, but they're likely a higher volume operation than just about any firearms retailer in Canada.

Plus they don't have to contend with all the extra taxes and regulations that raise firearm prices here.

I'm not convinced on the side rail, I'd rather have a top rail provided they hold zero.

A $1000 is still a ripoff for the rifle, but if you want to play, you have to pay.

Not a ripoff really. Compare the Type 81 to the Type 97 or CSA Vz 58 and they're all in the same ballpark price point.

You can't compare guns made with surplus parts like the CZ 858 or surplus guns like the SKS to new production guns made with all new parts.

Comrades of Norinco many surplus parts having. Huge production line millions making not believing new parts high costing. Huge fairy telling from grim brethren. Or grim brothers.

*cough*$400 Norinco 305*cough*

It's so funny seeing people complain about the price. Oh no stamped sheet metal at $1000!?!?!? OMFG!!!

Yet the Type 97 is selling for over that and beyond and it's fvcking g plastic. Oh it has to be more expensive cuz it's Chinese plastic then.

What can I say. People are gonna hate and daniel_250r is gonna a shoot dirt. WTF is this world coming too

After reading about the T97 and CSA VZ58, the Type 81 if it's as good as it's being stated, may be the best choice for the money (yes, I'm changing my mind like my GF does every 4 minutes  ).

In the least being new barrel and new receiver, else restricted and/or prohibited being.

Care to post which retailer is selling M305 type rifles new for $400 right now? Not years ago. Right now.

We'll wait.

You'll have your new rifle before he comes up with an answer because he's full of ****. He can troll all he wants. I don't own one gun that hasn't went up in value. some seem to be going up a $100 every other month.

you can't touch a 305/M 14 for under $600 mark without tax's and most are around the 650 .

Please. He would have been referring to how long it was $400, thereby proving a good rifle could be made affordable. So it's $600 now. Cool. So, a good rifle can be made for $600. How much less is that from $1000?

Wasn't THAT long ago, but I'll be fair then. Currently they are $599 from Marstar with a scope, rings and mount included. You subtract the price of the scope and mount and that's a pretty cheap, .308 semi-auto rifle made of BRAND NEW parts. Also it's milled and made in China as opposed to stamped and made in China like the type 81.

$600 rifles don't make my point any less valid there buddy.

The current $600 Marstar Specials with scope, mount, and rings, only exist because the factory screwed up and mounted the front sight post canted to one side - so they're basically useless without a scope and mount.

$595 @ Trade EX, in stock. Don't remember them $400, must have been quite a while ago.

I think there is no doubt that these guns are being marked up a healthy amount...... but really.... $1000 bucks isnt unreasonable if the quality of the blued guns is good, and they shoot well. Tactical imports invested their time, effort and money to bring these in for us, they deserve to sell them for whatever price they deem made the whole deal worth their while. If you want a better priced one due to a competitive market.... then I guess you'll just have to sit on the side lines for who knows how long? and wait for more Canadian importers to bring them in.
