I'm definately not paying a full pre-order price for TI, if I recall correctly they did this with the famae rifles and missed the delivery date.l by a long shot. Another retailer brought them in without making people preorder and sold a bunch.

I drag my SKS through the bush all the time hunting, bluing holds up fine. Yet my numerous parkerized shotguns and CSA VZ show significant wear, the parkerizing looks like chit when you get it, and still looks like chit when its all scuffed up! you put oil on it to make it look darker, but that eventually disappears in the hot sun or collects dust and crap, making the parkerizing look all dried up and like chit again lol

Besides, most people like the way Russian guns wear the "distressed blue" look ;)

you dont see people posting pictures of their worn out parkerized guns.......

I have to laugh at all who think a military firearm should have a finish like a $700,000 holland and holland british firearm. Its a freaking military rifle. Get over it. I like the look of a well cared for used battle rifle Its called patina and looks great, like its been around the block a few times.

Those who want a pretty and perfect looking military rifle are the same ones who spend more time fawning over it in front of the TV rather than out at the range shooting it and getting it dirty like it was meant to.

I like the look of these. Don't think I'll be buying one at this point, though. I own an 858 that I am very happy with, and I am in the midst of kitting out & accessorizing my Wildcat, so that's where the current expendable income goes. My two cents: I own a Russian SKS that I've left stock. I prefer the look of the milsurps as left alone. IMHO, I don't think any aftermarket stocks, etc, parts, make the SKS look good. It looks lumpy. The type 81 at least looks better - continuous lines, flowing parts.

But that's my opinion so what do I know - don't intend to offend any modded-SKS owners; I just haven't seen one I like the look of.

Different people have different concerns I think .... Most people seem to be stuck on price and finish, but what about reliability, accuracy, availability of spare parts? Tactical Imports now says it does not fit AK mags. So, one question answered, but the guys that pick up the first batch will have to answer how well these shoot and, if they always go bang. Probably, if these are uber reliable, they will sell well.

Pre-ordered a folder. I'm thinkin they are gonna wanna impress us so the first batch will be cherry. Would make sense, times are hard everywhere so customer satisfaction is important if they wanna keep the plant open lol
