two of my buddies have T97's, they're not THAT bad, the only thing I didn't like about them was the location of the safety switch, and the mile-long over travel on the trigger.

They're not that bad, the aftermarket parts make them much more usable, but expensive at the same time. You also can't expect a manual of arms like an AR or Tavor.

You mean like almost everything else we have in canada!?!?!?!

I just think these rifles will be put together out of piles of left over Chinese military type 81 rifles that were made back in the 1980's(I'm sure they have millions of them sitting somewhere). Hopefully they will use a receiver that was never intended for f/a fire. But really there is no R&D to pay for, likely no tooling to make. its just like the sks from the 70's and 80's put together from leftovers. They are a cool gun but their just gonna gouge us because they look ak'ish and are non restricted. For example it would cost much more to build a chinese 1911(lots of machining) than a type 81(stamped sheet metal) but the type 81 is $999.00 and the 1911 is $299.00

As stated from TI these are all newly manufactured rifles with S/A only lowers using all new made parts. New reciever, barrel etc... I'm sure some parts will be NOS but the main things thay cost more are being made

I don't do the "pre-pay in full" anymore. I've waited 6 months before for things to arrive... Good luck to you guys.

Poll is at 42.6% NO.

I would have been a YES with a 25% pre order fee, but a NO with a 100% pre order fee. I'll spend my $1000.00 and try and get an 858 that I can enjoy right away. The type 81 will be a future purchase when I can get one delivered right after I pay for it.

Same here. I don't pre-pay in full severals month in advance without exact delivery...... I'm ok with a 25% deposit but not full.

I'm still interested in the type 81 but not in a hurry to get one.

Like I said, The day you post real pictures after your factory tour i'll buy one. Or when they get here. witch ever one come first.

Man, you've been really charming towards site dealers today, haven't you? Lol!

It was a joke, Hence the smiley face :)

As for not buying stuff unseen thats how I roll... :)

I also may have been drinking all day... lol...

I agree, 100% down on a preorder doesnt make any sense.

This exactly. I still haven't heard TI explain why they did this.

Not likely we'll have stock by the time the shipment arrives.

No talks or ETA about shipment #2. Maybe next year.
