I was at a small shop today looking for extra mags for my CZ75 SP01 Shadow. The salesperson said they had just sold their last one yesterday, but they had
some IWI Baby Eagle 40 caliber mags that will hold 14 9mm cartridges and fit the CZ75. Would they be legal to use at a range? From what I understand, the
mag capacity restriction only applies to it original purpose. Is it worth picking up a couple of these? Seems like OEM mags are becoming hard to find lately.

Yup ;)

Yes, if it holds a max of 10 rounds of .40 it's the important part. If it fits and shoots xx amount of 9mm your good to go legally. It has to hold 10 of what it was originally designed for, that's it.

Here is the legal basis for those mags being legal. Same for .50 Beowulf and LAR mags. A good page to have in your gun case, just in case you ever get stopped by an LEO that isn't quite up to speed.

Ok it seems to be spelled out pretty clear in the example given that these mags are okay to use:

Example:
Heckler and Koch P7 pistol chambered for 9mm Luger caliber:
The magazine designed for the 40 S&W calibre variant of the pistol will hold 13 cartridges of 9mm Luger calibre and function in the 9mm Luger calibre P7 pistol. This is permissible as the maximum permitted capacity of the 40 S&W calibre magazine must be measured by the number of 40 S&W calibre cartridges it is capable of holding, which is 10 such cartridges in the case of the HK P7 pistol magazine.

I am going to pick up a couple and see how well they work. :d

Dude find out if they work, of so I will buy 6 of them... PLEASE!!

Does anyone know if mags for glock 22 fit and work in a 17?

Was just about to ask the same thing!

I'm pretty sure they will, I'm about 98% sure they will. But I have never actually slammed home a 22 mag into a 17 frame... so I'm not 100%

Next question to ask is: where does one buy glock 22 mags?

*edit*

Wolverine supplies has glock 22 mags. I'm going to buy one and try it out at the range in my Glock 17L and get back to you on my success.

Probably will take a couple weeks though.

OP, if you are interested, I am using Mec Gar mags in my CZ and they seem to work aswell as the regular CZ mags and they are cheaper. I bought mine from Marstar, not sure if they still have them in stock.

Just buy the mags for your gun. A buddy of mine had a Jericho (baby eagle) and I borrowed one of his mags for a match, it wouldn't always seat properly and on the first stage it fell out after first shot. Probably not a big deal if you're just plinking, but I learned a lesson.
The feed lips are different, some will hold 9mm, some wont.

As for legalities, yeah it's legal in Canada. Some ranges specifically prohibit their use though in their range rules though.
