Having a problem with the last round in the magwell adapter and 10 round magazines. Hopefully someone has had the same issue and has a solution.

Here is an image of the magazine and the bolt catch holding the bolt open as it should when the magazine is empty.

Here is an additional image to show that the bolt is being held open.

Here comes the issue. When you depress the magazine and the bolt catch releases... It is now caught again before being able to cycle properly. This happens with the 3 different magazines I own. Is this an issue with the magazines spring being to springy? or what? I am at a complete loss as to what to do next. Will be emailing the people I ordered these parts from to ask them if they have encountered this.

Now when you remove the magazine it is still held open. Only when you touch the bolt does it cycle.

This is after I have touched the bolt and the bolt catch has returned to it's regular position.

Hopefully someone has some insight as to why this is happening or any solutions on how to fix this.

Cheers!

My understanding is that your magwell adapter is only reliable with .223 models. There is a different adapter that Wolverine sells made out of aluminum for 7.62x39.

The only thing about that is on the reviews I have read people are having no issue with using this adapter and 10 round mags for 7.62x39. Makes me wonder why mine is behaving the way it is.

I have no issues with mine in 7.62and using xcr mags. Not sure i understand your problem fully.
So after your last round is fired the bolt is held open. Then when you depress the mag while still in the gun it releases the bolt but catches again when the bolt is half closed? Why are you depressing the mag while in the gun? Are you using stripper clips to load? The bolt hold open is probably catching on something as the mag follower is pushing the hold open catch upward.
Does the hold open release the bolt when you pull the mag out as well? If so it could be that the catch is worn or that the mag follower isnt pushing the hold open up far enough. The little finger on the hold open can be bent slightly to contact the follower better so it will puch the hold open catch up further.

It's the last round that will not work. When you cycle through 9 rounds. The gun goes to catch the 10th round. But the magazine is pushing on the bolt catch which is causing the bolt catch to lock in the midway position. The reason I have to depress the mag in the midway position is because it needs to release the bolt catch so it can properly cycle that last roubd. I do not use stripper clips to load. I will add an image in a bit to show you where I think the bolt is getting held up when cycling that last round. When you pull the magazine out you have to jiggle the bolt ever so slightly so the catch depresses. I don't think the catch is worn since the gun is only 7 days old. And have only fired maybe 100 rounds through it. Hopefully this helps clarify some things? Let me know if you want any more info....

Look for signs of wear on the underside of the bolt, magwell and magazine. If it's binding there will be some friction, you should be able to tell if it's the mags or the magwell the bolt is catching on.

So its being held open on after the 9th round...new gun so it cant be wear. Is the bolt catch being engaged after the 9th round?
Could be a mag issue. Try an xcr mag. All mine work perfectly. I probably have over 1000rounds through it now.

Here is a link to all the images I have taken. Issues with the magazines and issues with the bolt catch.

This image I will link here is where I believe the bolt catch is catching the bolt.

Don't know why the image wont show just have to right click and go to the link I guess.

Anyways The url I linked has descriptions of what is going on at each stage.

Yeah Would love to try an XCR mag if someone would sell them or have them in stock that would be great! I am really disappointed in these Elander mags.

I've got one of the Elanders and it functions fine in my AR, but it's not nearly as good quality as the XCRs. It swells when loaded full and doesn't load into the rifle without effort.

Yeah I really don't like these mags at all. It's crazy difficult to load too... The springs in mine are at such high tension the 10th round barely goes in. Also having issues with loading into the rifle. Just no good imo.

Well after mucking around with the rifle for the last little while. I have determined that the magazine is causing the issue I am having with the last round being cycled through the rifle.
I apologize for the terminology I will use. Please correct me if I am wrong here.

So what is happening is this. The spring in the magazine is WAYYY to stiff? I guess is the word I am looking for. It's putting to much pressure on the bolt catch. So when the last round is cycled it puts immense pressure on the bolt catch and causes the bolt to catch halfway through the cycle. So after some extensive testing and use of a different XCR Mag. I have determined that the issue is with these Elander magazines. When I used my friends XCR Mags I had no issue cycling through a full 10 rounds. No issue with the bolt catch. Everything went just peachy. However when I went back to the Elander mags... BANG problem came right back.

Since that test. I have removed my magwell adapter for the time being. Inserted the original parts loaded my 5/30 round magazines tested the bolt catch. When the magazine was empty it triggered the bolt catch and caught the bolt where it should have. When I depress the magazine it returns to the closed position completely.

I am sad that these magazines do not work properly. At least I still have the original magazines to still use my AWESOME rifle. I will be getting a hold of the people I purchased them from to see what they can do for me.

If anyone else is having this issue please share!

Cheers,

why don't you cut a little bit of your spring down inside the mag, or take a little off your follower. A monkey can do it so just give it a shot. Some mags your just going to have to tweet to work in your rifle.

No. I don't think so. I am not interested in these magazines after they started coming apart. I am certainly not interested in permenantly modifying the spring to get them to work. They will be returned and I will patiently wait to get the actual xcr magazines.

The XCR mags can be just as hard to load the 10th round into. I've tweaked the springs or followers and polished and de-burred the feedlips and front edge of all of my XCR mags.
