Hi, so I've been looking for gas cylinder shims for my m305, the rifle definitely requires some, I had made my own but they were cut out of a beer can and became pulverized after about 150 rounds.

I called all local shops in Edmonton and check sponsor sites but they either didn't carry them or are sold out.

Could anyone point me in the direction I could find some? Brownells also says they're sold out.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Send Tactical teacher $5 in an envelope and he will mail some to you . Have you tried taking your gas locking ring off and reversing it ?
Sometimes this will fix the problem as well.

I recently had a customers rifle on the bench, short stroking issues....

He had installed a couple of shims on his gas system to ensure proper lock up and didn't check to ensure his gas hole was lined up properly.

As it turned out all he really had to do was swap the gas lock as it timed in perfectly when it was reversed.....

I get mine from tactical teacher. Best price going, IMHO!

Cheers!

I sent tactical teacher an email, no reply yet, but I'll wait and see, tried reversing the gas lock and it still only became right around the 7 o clock position.

Thanks for your help guys. If nothing else I'll order some from hi cal.

You should be aware that the shims wear out. Mine lasted for about 800-1,000 rounds before I realized that they had turned to dust....as had my accuracy.

I'm in Las Vegas right now. My mom and dad need some help sorting out possessions around their house. Their health is predictably failing and this is a mercy/ social mission  to be had.

I'll be back on Saturday and then you can mail me the $5 but before you do, reverse that gas cylinder lock and see if things time up perfectly. When I get home this weekend, I can hammer some more shims out. I've got a few orders on the go, but I need to get home on Saturday 05 March to answer some shim issues (make more of them). :)

Cheers,

Barney

Okay back home and made some shims.

One slight  problem...... :(

My shim making punch(ing) tool is broken. I'm out of shim production for a while. The only good news out of all this was I was able to fill some orders for the folks who sent $$ before I left for my parent's place in Vegas last week.

So effectively (NOW) I can't crank out any shims for the gas cylinder , but I can explain how to get around using any shims (ever) and it's not that hard to do.

Cheers,

Hey Barney I ended up making another shim myself out of some better material I had kicking around, but would still prefer something made of stainless instead aluminum.

But I am intrested in how I could get around using shims all together!?

If I had some argon at home id just grab my TIG torch and unitize the gas system, which I've been told is a better alternative to shimming.

If your willing to tell I'm always willing to listen and learn!

Yes, we all want to know!
