AAR - ORA 2016 Precision Connaught May 7th, 8th

What a great start to the season for PR!
20 brave souls ventured out to Connaught for the first PR match in 2016.
I was told that if you can perform "well" here you will be great everywhere else!
All of you did very well in these adverse conditions. Winds of 15mph and gusting to 25mph on Saturday.
Sunday with the winds even stronger at up to 30 mph and very twitchy. Let's not forget the rain and SNOW!
Well "ok" it was more like light rain and frozen rain.

I would like to extend a thank you to Ryan for pulling this together for us and for Bill M. for running the line and keeping things on track and on time.
Also to all the unseen helpers in the Butt's and on the Base.

As well a thank you to our sponsors for providing us with great prizes.
Ellwood-Epps SFRC Vortex Optics Big Horn Sales.

Just in case there is any confusion from the description of the 2 classes, there is no 338 LM or 50 BMG allowed at Connaught.

WOW, match fee increased from $25.00 to $75.00 (for ORA members). Now a two day affair 6 hours drive from home. I love PR but I think I'm going to pass this year:confused:

You do understand this is a 2 day match. Match fees have gone up to 40/match. So you are actually saving a few bucks. Over regular match fees. We had no shooting last year and have been working our ass off to get some long range shooting this year.

As well if you were to shoot this same COF at NSCC you would pay 145.

Thanks for your hard work on getting this done Ryan and the other people who were involved. With no long range this year and only short ranges being shot this year. This will be a good warm up match to get your elevations and work all the kinks out before the Nationals.

See you in May!

You're kidding right ??? $75 is VERY reasonable!!! F class ranges from $140 to $380 per match. Pay the $75, count your blessings and HAVE FUN for a cheap price!!!

Registrations have been coming in steady and we now have enough shooters to run the match. We also have had some generous vendors step up with prizes for the shooters as well. keep those registrations coming in.

FWIW
Other than the NSCC matches in the past, the opportunity to shoot PRS style matches on Connaught was pretty much
NON existent. The fact that Ryan and his cohorts were able to arrange for this two day event is pretty spectacular.
(at 75 bucks for a two day event is a good deal and am surprised someone complained it was expensive, but still for some free would be too expensive)

Given the challenges with the Mons range closure, the schedule I've seen for practice and matches, the efforts of these volunteers are to be commended.
This should prove to be an excellent weekend for experienced and new to the sport PRS shooters. Not only a chance to start the season of with a 2 day match, but
to get to shoot on Canada's Premier Range facility is just bonus.

If you haven't booked yet..... suggest getting ahold of them now...
Have fun,play hard,go loud
Regards
Gord O

$75 is very reasonable. You pay twice that to shoot the exact same match, on the same range, over the same number of days during NSCC. Good on them for pulling this off.

These PR matches not PRS style, they are closer to F-Class than they are to PRS. Still a fun match, but we should not confuse the two, they are significantly different.

The match is fast approaching. We still have some room if you want to come out for a great weekend of shooting at one of the best ranges in Canada. Even if you have little or no match experience we will show you the ropes. The best way to learn is going shoot a match.

Ryan

Had an amazing time shooting the match today. Thanks again to everyone who helped organize it. The hail near the end of the day today was... interesting.
