If I purchase a handgun at a shop, how long does it take to get the permit to take it home.

i have had 3 take 2 days. and i had one take 1 week.

Depends where one is, too. In BC I've had it done in less than 24 hours & take as much as 2 weeks.

May also take longer if its your first... but lately it seems transfers have been quicker than before in ON. I avrg my expected times for transfers between 1-3weeks.. only had a couple take more than 3wks in 6yrs

I just bought my first pistol 2 Friday's ago and I recieved a email with my transfer last Friday, just make sure they have a copy of your range pass makes is go smoother

Pretty much my experience here in AB as well. I had one called in while I went to pay, and approved before I punched in my PIN# on the CC.....the longest wait times I have endured is when selling to someone in ON, I'm packaged and ready to ship and it has taken between 8-14 days every time before I get a transfer approval emailed to me.
