Arrived today. Initial impressions:

  • Carry handle rear sight is craptastic plastic. Didn't even bother removing it from its packaging
  • Rails are wider than spec - couldn't use my Magpul front sight.
  • front sight came off easily
  • choke came out easily
  • 4 of my 5 mags insert and remove easily. #5 is tight - didn't force it. Going to sand it a bit.
  • mag release is super stiff
  • weighs about what I expected
  • hinge mechanism makes it WAY too long. It was easy to remove, however.
  • balance is good, and somewhat to the rear
  • cycles smoothly
  • recoil spring is pretty heavy, meaning that a bigger cocking handle would be nice
  • looks freaking cool
  • overall, so far, I'm pleased.

I'll post more when I try it out this weekend.

Ravage got his and I stopped by to check it out. Pretty much identical feelings. The rear sight has a square notch and a peep, front sight post is molded plastic and unreasonably wide. Plastic rails on the forend were too wide to mount anything but the aluminum rail milled into the receiver was a good tight fit with magpul sights. A Fab GL-Shock is a nice snug fit on the buffer tube. The latch on the factory stock stops when compressed enough to move the stock, with extra force it pops down a little further to remove the stock. The mags are awkward to load. Ravage's roommate had some 3" steel loads in his truck, we found the rim of the shells catch on the brass below it forcing you to stick your finger down and push the shell down to seat the next one all the way. I'll reserve judgement until we run some rounds through it, it may be decent or it may be a turd.

The mag loading is a b!tch to say the least. I'm going to be cutting my springs down slightly in order to allow more room in the mag. The springs are definitely too long. Zero play in the mag when the last round is being loaded. I've been working on my mags and now have them inserting and basically dropping free without issue. The biggest challenge is all going to be mag related with this gun.

No, the biggest challenge will be to stop modding it. Cheap fun!

Guess what's next?

Someone is going to have to cycle some light target rounds! Looks really good, I might have to pick one of these up.
