Hornadys new ELD Match in .308 208gr
Has anybody tried these yet I've had great results with the old 208 gr A-max in my 300 win
and the local Gun shop The Outdoorsman in Medicine Hat Just got a bunch of the Eld Match in and
With a G1 of .670 these should be a winner ?

I just bought a box of these and the Hornady 208 BTHP to try in my Tikka Tactical 308, first time trying reloads in that rifle, always shot the Hornady 155 Amax Palma Match in it. Will hopefully get some loaded up this weekend to try out and will report back.

Ie custom builds a standard 1-10 like my rifle makes completely different recoil and sound from a 180 g sako hammerhead

My gun doesn't like it too heavy and not great results

My rem 700 police in 300 win loves the 208gr Amax
That's why I was wondering if any body had tried the 208gr Eld
Guess I'll just have to try a box lol

My TikTac is a 1-10" twist, not worried about stability. It will like it or it won't, the fun is in the finding out! It shoots the 155 Amax Palma Match like a wet dream so I always have that to fall back on.

I'm assuming most of us are talking .308 here. What powder do you plan on using?

Unfortunately, if you can't push them fast, the 208's have lesser value to long range. I use RL17, but I have had my issues with it. I've considered switching powder but the loss in velocity has me thinking I'd be better off resorting back to my 175gr loads using the wide range of temp stable powders.

If you have a shorter barrel it might not even be worth the hassles. Mine is 24". Every inch counts, even if "they" say it doesn't. If you have a 20" you'll be losing about 100fps. That adds up.

Cutoff is around 2450 fps. I'm pushing well into the 2500's.

Energy of round is very apparent hitting steel at 600+y. Especially out at 900-1100.

Check out the List twist calculator. 1:11 should do fine as long as you don't go to sea level or shoot when its like -20 or something. On a warmish to hot day and at Albertan altitudes, you will be fine.
