Guys, I've just taken delivery of a brand new Dual Tone SP01 Shadow (my first pistol). The safety lever can only be pushed up when the hammer is on the safety notch or when fully cocked, but not when the hammer is up against the slide. Is this normal or am I missing something about this. The book doesn't specify anything about when the safety lever can be engaged. The pistol is unloaded at this point.

You're good - you can only engage the safety when it's cocked.

After having to figure out for myself how to fit a safety in my 85Combat after installing the competition hammer, I got a pretty intimate study of how they worked

WONDERFUL choice for a first pistol, by the way. You're either going to love it, or handguns aren't for you ;)

Thanks for the confirmation guys. It was my inexperience with Safety vs Decocker options showing when I asked the question. However, the instruction manual could have been a little more specific about when to active the safety.

I've since found an excellent thread elsewhere which clarifies the subject nicely. I can live with the safety version. I'm really impressed with the fit & finish of the pistol. It's very classy in appearance but not too "blingy" if you know what I mean.

You've purchased the best value pistol in 9MM IMHO if a 9mm that is, enjoy
