So I just picked up a really handsome M1907 Winchester at Auction.

Yes, I knew the ammo was hard to come by, but I also knew it was available new in the US. No luck yet finding a gun shop to import any for me, but whatever, it's a really handsome gun and here are some pics, because that is how we do things here.

Kinda a typical; "the Barrel is worn/pitted, ect" and it's improved about 100% by a pull-through.

When I got the gun, I figured; man this is going cheap, it's in good shape and really neat mechanically. Well the round is neat as well.

Anyways, I am interested in loading some ammo for it and I am finding some interesting things online.

It seems the bullets are a little smaller than normal 9mm (.352?) and so I need to learn about sizing. I have zip about sizing bullets in any of my books so far.

Now the brass though, this is interesting...

Found more sources online, but i just assume now with anything online that they won't ship here and we won't import it.

Here is another suggestion using .360 DW, a slightly shortened .357 Maximum case. Guess you need a lathe then for the rim?

Midway has dies for .351 at least, but again; Canada. So it's tricky.

Any thoughts, besides "Give Up"?

You should slug the barrel to know exactly what bore diameter you're dealing with. If necessary you should be able to swage 9mm bullets down from .355 to .352 or so with a proper size push through size die. .351SL cases are made by Bertram Brass in Australia so should be easily importable. Have you checked with places like Epps for Bertram Brass? That will give you a start.

For Jamison .351SL check captechintl.com to see if they export. Quite a bit cheaper than Bertram Brass.

I am pretty sure I started with 357 Max brass when I was mucking with mine.

I also likely just "turned" down the rim using a file and a drill press.

Don't remember how I made the bullets... but it worked.

It was fun but didn't stick around for long.

I have 3 of them and dies and brass and bullets...... Easiest route without factory spec brass is to cut and resize .223 brass. if you have no lathe use a drill press (poor man's lathe). The bullets are tricky. I found a drillbit in size 'S', I think, to obtain .352 dia.(check that for yourself!) and drilled out an old socket from a socket set. I then put the socket in a vice and hammered a .358" lead bullet through and voila! make sure to check OAL when loading. If you have extraction issues with the brass you have two options. Chamfer the case rim to match the profile of the extractor or GOD FORBID, reshape the extractor to match the .223 case rim.

A Google search turned up a place called X-reload in Montréal which lists Jamison .351 WSL brass @ $53.15/50 (www.x-reload.com/351-winchester-sl/) Rusty Wood here in Mission has Bertram... at $ 254.00/50 (!!!!!!!) X-reload also show dies (Redding, $138.50) and bullets (180gr. @ $25.83/100). They don't say if they're in stock, though. You can also get dies out of the US from CH4D. (They have dies for everything, probably including calibres that don't exist yet!)

I am a fan of the WSL rifle also ,and have a small hoard of them .I have not tried the forming 223 case as there are better options to make the semi rimmed case from as mentioned 360DW which can be easily brought in and plated bullets from graf if in stock which Rusty Wwood Ttrading Co in Mission BC can also get for you .I have found that Peter and Cassie are very helpful to aquire odd items in a timely manner if in stock in the states.

I really need to understand these reforming brass and swagging concepts.

What is involved in each method? How is it done?

I am looking for trailboss anyways and I will put IMR 4227 on my list. I feel like IMR must make a powder for everything.

Furthermore, can anyone cite me a load manual with a range of load data for the .351 in it?

I have seen some online stuff, but very little; not the standard my Lyman manual has accustomed me too.

A 171gr bullet, 180gr FMJ and 180gr SP, but mainly set loads; no start/end range.

I have certainly had it proved to me over and over again that I can never have too much reloading data.

Though I have found it to vary widely in quality and specificity.
