I cannot choose between fixed stock and folding stock.

Fixed stock to me looks more balanced, aesthetic looking, and AK looking one (pisses off gun grabbing latte drinking libs). Also, you may wack a frog with the butt stock if you have to for some weird reason. :onCrack:

Folding stock gives more utility, easy transport, extra cool part to operate. At the end, that's why military switched from full stock to folding almost right away. Also, it would probably would match the material of the grip and look good that way. :adult:

Anyway, what's your take?

Don't forget to vote in the poll! P.S. No, I cannot buy both.

Type 81-1 which is folder is must have, and that's used to be the standard issues rifle for PLA from 1981 until that ugly type 95 replaced them... The reason that PLA switched fixed stock to folder is because folder are much easier to get into APC and other confined spaces.

I went folder. Fixed looks better and is probably more comfy to shoot, but the folder may be easier to carry and transport and it's also the model issued to Chinese troops and still in service even though currently being replaced. Scuttlebutt is that the folding mechanism is very solid and works well to.

Folder, I'd actually rather have a fixed stock but I need the folder's ease of transport.

The folding mechanism appears stronk, on another forum somewhere I heard that durability could be an issue with the fixed stock.

Played with the Chinese side folding stock on a Type 56 AK in Afghanstan and it's by far the best commie folder. Not only is it rock solid but very comfortable too imo. The AK underfolder is an awful pos though.

Yes I agree with Dsiwy but OP I know you say you can't buy both butni really think you should :-0

Polls are dead even at 50/50 atm. I personally would go fixed, but that's because I love the look of wood on any firearm.

Fixed for me, it will be easier for shooting it over sandbags, can wait to see if i can get decent groups out of this rifle, supposedely is an accurate rifle... JP.

I originally preordered folder but switched to fixed. The folder is near impossible to replace because its riveted on to the back of the receiver where as fixed looks easier to work with if I want to adapt ak furniture to work. Of course this is all in my head until I can get fixed stock and start tinkering.

Anyone know of the fixed stock has tangs built into the trunion like an AK, or is it a through-bolt like a shotgun butt?

Also, can the folder and fixed stocks be swapped between guns, or is it a case of once it's built for one type, it's permanent?

Honestly, I know the fixed stock would give a comfortable cheek weld, reserving judgement on the folder. I can't tell just by looking at it.

I had the folder on a VZ58 once, and while it looked cool, it was too uncomfortable to retain.

Folder is riveted to receiver afaik.

Looking at the photos, I fear the whole rear trunion would need to be changed and re-riveted to switch stock types.

That steered me away from folder. I like the idea of modding other stocks to fit if im unhappy with stock and folder seems like a no change option
