Thank you. When I bought it came with a old Bushnell with the dials falling off so the new scope we'll be a huge step up.
IMOP, BSA and Parker Hale are two hidden gems in the firearms world.... If you like wood and blued metal, it doesn't get much better at their price point.....
You may have issue installing the scope though, as the base spacing doesn't always accept short tubes that modem scopes have... If you run into this, send me a pm as I have a few sets of offset in a doing nothing and I will send a set to you for price of shipping...

It's no problem... And the offsets I have are very attractive and functional...... I just don't need them on my rugers.....

Well, I am a poor man, at least till the next couple years. So I am certainly not a equipment snob, as I have half a dozen scopes at $100 to $400 price range. A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to pick one scope for my rich friend. It was Swarovski Z5. I looked through the scope and everything has since changed. I will not buy a low end scope anymore. I only have one or two decade of good hunting life left, why not have a few "excellent" scopes? They won't bankrupt me or anybody if we just have a mediocre income.

Kinda makes me wish I thought before buying that buttery smooth auction bsa. Thanks for the pic gives me a idea what to expect , you will be the very first person to know if the scope fits fingers crossed.
Offset rings are reliable and hardly an inconvenience...... Well worth it to have a modern scope on an older rifle if you have to..... Your rifle is a quality piece....... You bought a decent scope... No reason not to enjoy the combo....
Ended up picking up a Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40 BDC tonight for a 308, not sure if it will live on an mvp patrol or ruger hawkeye. It fits in the price range, and should be better than Redfield revenge 3-9x42, or at least it appeared so to me.

I have a spotting scope made buy vortex so far so good. Ended up ordering a the redfield revolution.

For future consideration , the elite series 3-9x40's fit long action bolt guns quite well. I have 2 30/06's and a .270 wearing them.no extension rings and all 3 mounted in talley lightweights.
I don't know if they will ever restock, but the Redfield Revenge was $150 at SAIL. I did pick one up about a year ago there at that price. It's not a bad scope, they are made in the Philippines, pretty solid, 2 things I didn't like was the narrow field of view at 9x, and the center cross hairs are small compared to other multi-x types.

It lived on a 783 in 30'06 with no issues, now sitting on a Husky 1600 in the same chambering.
I have 4 of those gloss Elite 3-9x40 now just for reference, Japanese glass for $225 is a steal.

I have one on my Rem 700 in .308 Win. Revenge 3-9x42.
It has the accu range bracketing system to give you a close (actually pretty damned accurate tested with a lazer range finder!) approximate distance to your target out to 600 meters.
Came with 4 calibrated zero stop compensation dials. The .30-06 one is pretty close to my .308 load I use. I use a chart stuck to the side of my stock anyhow though so unless you tailor a load until it matches one of the 4 dials then just approach it like any other scoped rifle.
Honestly like someone said before, I'm no precision marksman competing in competitions. I don't need a $3K scope. I don't even need a $500 dollar scope. Ask yourself what you need a scoped rifle for. For me it's exploding pop cans out to 300 meters and eventually taking deer with it when I head out West this summer.
I can put 5 rounds under an inch at 100 meters with this scope on my belly using a jobmate range bag as a rest with good ammo. I get damn close to MOA accuracy out to 300 meters in the same manner.
Haven't shot it out past that but I'd imagine it would be good enough at those ranges too.
It's got a lifetime warranty including the "you're an idiot and you dropped it" coverage, the adjustments on the elevation and windage are crisp and sharp with no play, the sight is clear, easy to use, simple and so far has been very robust. It also holds zero very well so far. Have had it out at +40 weather in the summer and as cold as -25 just the other month and it's good to go. It's a no frills, solid utility scope.

Last week i was shooting some test loads aiming through a brand new Redfield Revolution 3-9x 42. All looks good and i could have recommended that scope at that moment. This was not my rifle though. Then i took out my 7mm-08 for sighting her new scope. Last december Al Flaherty's came with a real nice deal on Burris Fullfield E1 3-9x40. Wow ! This one is sharp and clear. My friend
agreed that it was the clear winner of both scope. But don't throw away your Redfields , they are quite good. I also have Elite , Sightron , Nikon , Vortex and Leupold in that magnification range.
I have a Viper PA of the early ascending Vortex company , a Diamondback Rimfire and Binos. I love all of them. So , when a friend asked me if the new Diamondback HP 4-16x42 would be good for
mid range use , at $359 i said '' Go for it ''. Unfortunately , the side focus knob had to be cranked at 500yd line to be clear at 100...gush. After the shot , the image was becomming blurry .
Obviously he got a lemon . Popularity and high demand paired with poor QC will make Vortex loose some customers.
Last year i had a great opportunity on a Zeiss HD5 5-25x50. Pfiouuu! It cost more, but , when you're looking through it , you know why and you are satisfied.
There are good scope for all budgets and uses. Use them and have fun.
