Israeli K98 restoration

Sounds like a great project. I would have waited for a correct Israeli stock though. They aren't that hard to find. I suppose you can always resell the Yugo capture stock if you decide to go the Israeli way.

Looking forward to pics.

If I had to guess I'd say you must know someone who provides the service, otherwise I can't quite figure how this could be cost effective.

Also no need to get in people's face...they're right, your taking a big risk, esp if all you had tested was the spots you mentioned. What the hell though, it's your face and hands, just be sure to give fair warning to everyone standing close so they can move back a little.

i get where everyone is coming from yes, and i tested those two places because thats where i was advised to check, and I do have friend who does this for a living and provided me the service :) and any work or restorations I have ever done I am always the first to fire, ensuring it works correctly.
 
Update: Stock from tradeex will be here tomorrow, when I get home from work, I will install and upload some pictures.

Worldwarsupply.com sells decent repro front sigh thoods. They are also on ebay, and will ship to Canada.
 
That's where I got mine from. repro front sight hood from worldwarsupply.com (via ebay), cleaning rod from trade-ex, trigger guard assembly/spring/follower/screws/magwell from sarco, safety from some guy out west (via ebay), repro sling from India (also via ebay), and stock and hardware from the Irishtown gun show. Cleaning supplies and linseed oil from Canadian Tire :) Rifle came to me with a Parker Hale m82 stock and bottom metal that I sold to finance the rest of the build. Good job OP. She is a beaut. I always wanted me a Mauser in .308.
Would have taken on that project same as you in a heart beat of a dirt cheap barreled action came my way!
Except I would have tested only with it tied to a tree, muzzle to the ground and a string.
Great job! Post back after a trip out and let us know how she shoots please.
 
I'm not a fan of the repro sight hoods, they are thick and sit too tall and look silly.
Try to wait for a proper one.

I did cold blue it yes, just to have a finish on it for the time being as it was bead blasted
