Like all the SKS i own, my Type 81 will remain stock, i hate modifing things, and i never buy something modified either...

I picked up a 858 as well recently, it has a bunch of fab defence hardware on it that I will be taking off and returning to stock form and the fab defence stuff will probably sit in the spare parts bin for a very very long time

I would put optics on one if a suitable base is available. Not interested in putting everything but the kitchen sink on it.

I bought a mall ninja's wet dream Vz858. Lucky for me the seller had the factory hardware for it.. once I sold all the crap that was bolted on, my Vz858 cost me 300$ ... lol...

Same with my type 81, I'm not wasting money on it by bolting on crap. Ill use that money for ammo

I got the same deal. Not sure how much it's all worth but he said over $300 worth of extras

Yeah mine was 650$, came with 6 5/30 and, 4 5/10 mags. Sold the fab defence crap, and the 5/10 mags.

But now the price of used Vz858 is ridiculous. Im hoping that Wolverines ones will be cheap enough to pick a new one and sell my current one since its beat to hell.. lol..

I think I got a good deal. 5 X 5/30s all the fab defence stuff, vortex flash hider, original hardware. 20 rounds fired pics show its in like new condition. $1000 to my door

I kind of like it...i'll have to see it when I get mine, but it seems almost like a peep sight with a wide field of view...might not be that bad.

The only thing I will do to this rifle is possibly make new wood parts similar to my 858. This of coarse all depends on what it looks like when it arrives at my door.

Funny how the author wonders if that EoTech is a counterfeit. I've seen one EoTech knockoff. They called it a Trace Optic and they put on it, For military and tactial use only. Yes, they spelled tactical wrong on their product.

A top rail for a red dot and offset flashlight mount would be all it needs to bring it into the 21st century. I personally probably wouldn't bother but it makes sense for the police/military.
