Two front swivel studs on my Ruger?

My lefty Alaskan came with a forearm stud along with the barrel band stud. Not uncommon and I think some came with a plug of some sort there and the early models came without the barrel band stud. I couldn't see the point so I pulled the stud and took a dremmel cut off wheel and a file to it. Then some cold blue. It isn't perfect, but if I refinish the stock I'll back it off a half a turn and blend the stud and stock at the same time.

 
When I had a 416ruger I removed the screw, machined a stainless screw with a blind head and had the ruger bird machined into it. It made it much less recognizable - I think I still have a few on hand.

What is the cost of a stamp these days?

I also removed the (in my opinion) ugly ruger logo from the floor plate, and bead blasted the entire rifle to get away from the dirty grey finish ruger gives them.

I had a 375 H&H Remington with a barrel band that I removed because I prefer the stud in the stock. It was on a stainless barrel that was cleaned up after it was removed.
I think it was installed with epoxy iirc as it cleaned up nice.

Tearing the band off a nice blued rifle and making a mess of a factory blueing job is something I couldn't come to terms with.

The only advantage of a barrel band that I can think of is carrying your rifle a bit lower when on your shoulder. More of a historical thing with big bores than anything else (?)

Either way, looks like the OP got a beauty of a left hander there. Wonder if he'll keep that big muzzle brake on?

I have one of the older Alaskan's with the sling stud in the fore end of the stock and with the blued finish. At first I wasn't sure about not having a stainless finish, but I really like the look of the blued finish, if I ever get it in a McMillan stock I think it'll look pretty nice.
