Lets see your pre 64 model 70's

Thought I would add these 2 in, as I really like 'em!! And yes, I know they are redundant....but I don't care right now....and ya, they where assembled by the same guy
Top one is a 30-06 rebored to 9.3x62, bottom is a 375 H&H, 602 barrel, work done by Leeper. The 9.3 is original blue, right at 8lb as it sits there, with the bolt....The 375 is gunkoted, about 8.5lb. The 9.3 points like a damn bird gun for me...maybe the best feeling/pointing gun I've owned yet

The Whelen has a littermate......chambered in 280 Rem.
Got this one back from the stock guy a few weeks ago.
Pre'64 M70 action, this one is from '46 and wears the Pre War tang and the transition safety lever.
It wears a 23" stainless Shilen barrel recontoured by Bill to resemble a Douglas contour similar to the Whelen.
This one wears a Wildcat stock in the new Featherweight pattern.
Mounted up a 2.5-8 Leupold in Dual Dovetail R & B's. giving it a weight of exactly 7-1/2 lbs.
Shot it last Sunday with some loads I had here for another rifle.
It put 140 Accubonds in an inch first time out. I think it'll work.
The stock is not as green as it appears in the pics. Bottom rifle.

Nice on the .300 Super! They feed so slick and smooth especially in a pre 64 M70. Love mine. Winchester did a "barrel cleanup" in '53-'54. They were shipping out .300 H&H standard rifles with the 26" SS barrels. Those barrels were not even a catalogue option for the std. rifles, only listed for Super Grade rifles. Blue Book of Gun Values indicates a 20-30% premium for the .300 H&H with a stainless barrel. Check yours! A stainless barrel will have a matte finish and polished muzzle.

Blowback

Picked this one up a few days ago.
1955 in 300 H&H.
It makes 5 Pre'64's that I have now.
Have customs in 280 Rem and 35 Whelen, originals in 270 Fwt, standard 30-06 and the 300 H&H. Had about 15 go through my hands in the last 5 or 6 years.

Nice rifle , I hope it doesn't get rusty when I get my sweaty hands on it lol

Nice one Rembo!. Especially nice wood for a standard grade.

I picked this off the EE recently. It's a 1960 .300H&H Standard-Grade with optional pad (yeah it say's Winchester). First trip to the range took two shots to get dead on at 25 yards. Moved out to 85 yards and produced this nice .460" 3-shot group. Put back in case and went home smiling all the way. I think this might be my "Elk gun" this fall.
