What Was your first deer shot with?

Savage 111 in .270 Winchester. Leupold VX1 3-9x40. Prone shot at 120m +/-. Drawn for a mulie doe at the family farm and took a shot on one slowly walking across my field of view at dusk. After a couple hours of tracking the poor gut-shot creature, we found it, dispatched it, and got it home. Not proud of it, but it certainly was a learning experience that, thankfully, I haven't had to repeat.

Of all things, a left handed remington 788 in 6mm rem. Odd considering I'm not a leftie. Borrowed rifle.

Shot my first with irons and my own reloads this year, a mule doe with a husky 9.3x57.

Rem. Model 7 in 7mm SAUM. awesome rifle unfortunately I wasn't into reloading at that age so I sold when Remington abandoned the "SAUM's" and ammo was impossible to find I sold it.

Last year was my first deer with a rifle. I smacked one with a shop truck outside of Saginaw, Michigan a few years before that though. I took my 2015 doe with my .303 Ruger #1-A, flinging 180 grain Federal soft points. She hopped the fence into the field I was in and got two paces before that chunk of lead smashed both lungs and kept on cruising. Not two minutes later, one of the buddies I was hunting with popped the small buck that chased her into my field with his .270. That was a great morning, and we've all got the fever.

Walking out of my favourite valley disappointed with the lack of activity I ran into the path of a rutting buck hot on a doe and the adrenalin was going so good I didn't even notice the buck tell the doe fell. One shot from about 25 yards with the rem 700 .30-06 did the trick.
