I'm looking for an inexpensive bolt action rim fire for plinking and target and this came to my attention.

Has anybody tried one? Comments?

I just received a JW 25a from Canada Ammo , it's one of the better Norinco's , metal to wood fit is very good , blueing is well done , the bolt is pretty smooth out of the box , the safety is rather stiff .
It is a full size rifle , solid feel and all metal parts including the trigger guard . The barrel is shorter and thicker than it's brother the JW 15 .

Now both can use some fine tuning to smooth out the rough parts , bolt , mag , trigger assembly ect . some 600 grit sand paper and some elbow grease and they slick right up , pretty easy to do but not required , they shoot well just give them a good cleaning and your good to go ..

JW 25a full wood stock is a heavier than the JW 15 with the plastic stock , there is about a $ 10.00 difference in price .

The Best Nornico I think is the Target SN522 , they come up on the EE once in awhile , infact there is one right now for $ 300 .00 . thats a good deal , I would buy it but I have two now ......

If you have a Bigger wallet then look at Ruger , Winchester , Remington , CZ ect , these have a better fit and finish but cost more .

Hope this helps.

Canada ammo has the JW 25a for $229.99 with free shipping and I think Bull Eye in Lonndon has the JW 15 for $ 219.99 and free shipping .

I hopes that helps !!!!!!

I like the one I received. Smoothing the sharp edges and action was enjoyable in "get to know your firearm" kind of way. I have a BRNO #4 Target rifle, and see many similarities. It shoot very well. Cz, BRNO mags fit.

Put a dab of toothpaste on the safety and work it until it smooths out ,toothpaste is just polishing compound and I've used in a number of applications

Got mine not all too long ago and have well over 4k rounds through it... it's a tack driver. I love it. Excellent fit and finish, beautiful wood finish, not a mark on the bluing. For $260 delivered to my door it's one of my top five best firearm purchases in the last three years. Here's a few pics of my JW25A....

Nice looking rifle

Nice looking rifle

Thanks... appreciate it. I love it. I've been into levers and semi-autos for a long time and this little number got me back to my roots of bolt actions. It's sweet to shoot, dangerously accurate to any pests thus far and has been absolutely flawless in operation. Only problem is keeping it away from my father who grabs it every time I'm not looking... I'm going to order him one for his b-day so I can keep mine to myself lol...

I've always had great luck with Norinco's but this one looks twice as good in person and gets a lot of attention from everyone who hasn't seen one before.

I got one with a cracked stock for $130. It is a great little rifle and surprisingly accurate. It also fits the Mauser bayonet.

I was going to ask where you got the scope [a Scorpion I would guess ;-)] and the sling. I'm not into Nazi memorabilia, I'd rather have a Lee Enfield but I'm ignoring the German connection for the sake of the price. And saying it's made in China.

I just like the whole idea of bolt action but I have no practical use for it, so I don't want to dent the wallet too much. I have cameras to support too.

Bought one from Canada Ammo a little while ago. Fit and finish was pretty good, though the magazine was quite sticky. I ended up sitting on the couch working the bolt and magazine for a few hours to break them in. Shoots well and accurately for how cheap it was.
Finding Norinco magazines for them is next to impossible, the CZ452 magazines are quite expensive in Canada.

Yup, its a Scorpion and contrary to all the haters on here the 3-9 compact is a great little workhorse for the price. I picked a few up in Lloydminster at the gun show a few years back and at my LGS where this one rings in under $100. It's also your best option for a 10/22 takedown as it keeps the bug-out-bag functionality. As for the sling, its from fleabay and came out of India IIRC and can likely be had without the Nazi markings if you requested sans insignias.

Yeah, the CZ magazines is straight out highway robbery... I love my JW25A and find having only five rounds a PITA but I refuse to throw that kind of money on a magazine that's worth $20. I've been tempted to modify a Savage MKII magazine and see how it works out... May sound foolish to most but a project is a project in my mind. I ran into a video where a guy does it with limited success and I figure with my skills and tooling I can take it a few steps further building on his R&D...

Also with a little polishing my mag flys out with authority now when you hit the magazine release. Works great with gloves on
