did they finally fix the accuracy issue that the 9mm version had?
A quick google search will reveal that many many many people had issues with their factory version S&W M&P 9mm, some people reported significant accuracy issues at 25 yards, some said even at 10 yards, with loose barrels, bad crowning and rifling issues.

The most recent post claiming that issues still existed that I have found was made on some US forum in December 2014, well its been over a year now and I am curious if it has been resolved.

The range kit is a damn good deal and I am considering it as my first 9mm hand gun assuming the issues are fixed. (initially wanted FNH FNS 9mm but they only sell the damn longslide version here in canada GRRRRR  )

ty for your insight

Mine seems to shoot just fine. 3" at 20yards ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I also swap the 9mm barrel into my m&p 40 vtac and get 3" groups.

Mine was purchased in 2014 and it shoots OK:

The one shot in the 8-ring was my fault.

I think the M&P 9s built in the last couple years or so are much less likely to suffer from accuracy problems. I would not hesitate to buy one.

I've been following the same issue for a while now and the short answer is no. Swith and Wesson has not corrected the issue. Randy from Apex Tactical researched and corrected this issue with a fitted or a semi-fit barrel.

https://www.apextactical.com/blog/i...nces-9mm-barrels-for-smith-wesson-mp-pistols/

Randy also discusses the accuracy issues here:

http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-pistols/451019-accuracy-coming-apex-m-p-barrels.html

The issue varies depending on the pistol as there are differences between the slide. All the slides are not the same specs which is why the accuracy results for drop-in barrels differ. This is true for factory and after market barrels. A fitted barrel resolves the issue of the barrel unlocking too early.

However, s&w will fix the problem under lifetime warranty if you get a lemon.

They better. I got a PC 9L CORE on the way and as a bullseye shooter, I will not be happy if it wont group worth a piss @ 25. Now I don't expect it to be a bullseye pistol but I sure hope it'll produce a 3'' group at the very least.

I remember reading on the MSW sight that the 115gr bullets typically work the best. But try 115gr, 124gr and 147gr and see which one produces the tightist group.

ive only run through 115/124gr, dont notice a difference really.
i have production runs from early 2015 and early 2016 (as per test case, not always indicative or true manufacture date)

I've got a new mp 9pro and it shoots way better than me. I'm very pleased with it. Once I got used to the trigger it's the best shooting I've ever done.

My M&P9L ( 5" ) is a tack driver. I wanted to go to the next level and got a Storm lake barrel for it. 5.7".... Now it sucks.

So stick withe the stock barrel if it's accurate. Probably won't get any better.

That makes me happy not at all. I ordered a Storm Lake barrel lol. Mine does shoot well now. I was just bored and needed something to customize. As is, at 25 yards, I can put all the rounds into a 6" diameter circle. Yep, not great compared to everyone else on here, but I figure that's centre of mass in a human target (if need be). At 10 yards I drill out the bullseye and shooting becomes boring. Could also be that my eyesight sucks even with my prescription shooting glasses on.

At that point if I'm down to my pistol it's likely the zombies have broken through my defenses and I'll only need it to kneecap any fat people with me to use as diversions.

I bought a CZ Shadow and it is just so much easier to shoot accurately than the S&W 9. If you want a S&W 9 range kit, I put it up for sale at Urban Tactical in Brantford. The trigger has been upgraded with an Apex kit.

Well my first 9mm will be my first restricted fire arm ever (just waiting on damn license to get approved, hopefully only a few weeks left), so I am doing extensive research on various pistols before I throw a grant into the wind. It will take me a lot of practice to pull off 3" groups at 25yds, however i dont want to spend 800+ after tax on a pistol that might be a total lemon and I cant even get a refund.
I guess I'll scratch the M&P off the list as it is a bit too much of a risk to throw my gun savings out on something this iffy.

I hear a lot of people rooting for CZ but for some reason some deep down gut feeling doesn't make me want to trust some eastern bloc company that makes clones. What is so great about them?

Damn I thought I figured it out all out with the FNS but they only sell the honking huge long slide version. Maybe just gonna save up for a P226.
Ideas?

The CZ shadow is one of the best pistols made. That said, i personally don't like it as much as my m&p. Sure the CZ is all steel and has a WAY better trigger, but I tend to like stryker fired guns.

There's nothing iffy about the M&P. The CZ is a great pistol, who did they copy, please don't say Colt? If you are buying a pistol to please yourself with 3" groups at 25 yards then you are looking at the wrong pistols. Understand what all of these semi auto pistols we use were designed to do and free your mind. Pistol shooting is fun, you will enjoy!

I beg to differ; a pistol having a history of having a rather large chance of being a lemon with huge accuracy issues even at close ranges is something very iffy, considering I will be blowing out almost a grand on the thing with most likely no return options.

Honestly after newer review idk where that 3" number came from, I read somewhere that some experienced shooters are able to pull it off with combat style pistols, so I threw it out there. Know this though; I am not looking for a 10" barreled high power scoped precision super accurate bi-pod mounted world champion ship pistol capable of super uber tight groups. I am looking for a "service/combat styled" pistol that will let me practice and take part in IPSC and other 3 gun competitions, so my main concern really is reliability. And having a 50/50 chance of getting a lemon isn't reliable to me.

I am going to look into CZ fire arms, and you have to excuse my ignorance about them. It is just when some one mentions reliable, accurate and comfortable pistols CZ usually pops in as a commie block weapon, while Sig, FN, S&W, Beretta, Walther, Steyr etc usually pop into mind first. But I tend to be too judgemental at times too.

But looking at the CZ Shadow being a grant I may as well open up all my other options as well.

The m&p is a great first handgun, that being said the CZ sp-01, 75 or 85 combat are even nicer. Nothing wrong with Cz pistols, there's a reason you'll see a ton of people shooting them in ipsc.

What you should do is find a range that will rent you handguns to try, pick your top 5 9mm's and see which you like the most. My top three were cz, ppq & m&p, I picked the m&p9 after shooting all three.
