okay so here i go go azz backwards again............anyone have any first hand experience with the 30 IHSMA?? or even the 7 IHSMA for that matter?

I am running a .308 win at 60 percent case capacity so figure hey why not just shorten the damn case and get back up to 90 percent or so case capacity with my powder charge.........was thinking 7.62x39 as the case is the right length, velocity is in check, lapua makes brass, draw backs are having to order a reamer for a .308 bore and a boltface retrofit........soooooo.......after shooting a 30x44 wilcat for years but tired of the brass prep and wanting a size and load case to play with in comes the fine line of long forgotten IHSMA cartridges........

Has anyone ever seen brass with the IHSMA headstamp? in canada?? or know who has any new winchester 300 savage brass in stock that I can easily modify as I have the proper dies on their way to me now???

Higginson lists Winchester 300 savage brass for sale. But they don't exactly keep things up to date on the brass inventory. Worth a call on Monday. $34/50

if you measure 30-40 krag , you will find you should be able to cut a chamber that 7.62x39 will work in ( you only use 2/3's of the reamer )

the drawback is the very long throat and long neck . not necessarily a issue if your shooting heavy bullets .

30-40 krag reamers pop up on ebay in the 40 -50 dollar range .

for dies I was going to machine off the bottom 1/3 off of a set of krag dies .

I was wondering about that ..... have you had any issues with the thickness of the brass in the neck being too thick at all ?

Had a 7 IHMSA back in the 70's. Good silhouette cartridge. Used to be able to order brass out of the states back then. 7mm-Int-R was similar and much easier to makes brass for, as was the 7-30 Waters and 7mm STE. - dan
