Looking for what bits to put into a spare parts kit for a gen 3 g17 and where to get them in Canada.

Gun will be used for IPSC and see approximately 10K rounds per season.

I will be picking up a spare Glock for a backup gun but as a newbie to plastic guns, was wondering what spares people recommend to keep on hand.

Any info appreciated.

Recoil spring, trigger return spring, firing pin spring, magazine release spring, slide stop assembly, extractor spring. I would venture that these would wear out faster than the other tidbits.

I would say recoil spring and mags. Recoil spring in good condition will be easier on the pistol.

Here a idea that I found on a reliable site. I'm pretty sure that the gun could shoot far more rounds before any problems.

1. Recoil Spring Assembly: 3,000-4,000 rounds (Gen 1-3). 5,000-7,500 rounds (Glock Gen 4)

2. Firing Pin Spring (striker): 15,000 rounds

3. Firing Pin Safety Spring: 15,000 rounds

4. Extractor Depressor Plunger Spring: 15,000 rounds

5. Magazine Catch Spring: 15,000 rounds

6. Standard Trigger Spring: 15,000 rounds

7. Slide Lock Spring: 15,000 rounds

8. Slide Stop Lever Spring (attached to slide stop lever): 15,000 rounds

This^^ if you change your recoil spring assembly as mentioned you will be good with the extra parts mentioned. You can buy a complete parts kit from Rock Your Glock and a few extra recoil spring assemblies and your good to go for many 10's of thousands of rounds.

One of my gen 3 G17's had the trigger spring go at 25K. Gun has 75K on the odometer now. That spring is all that ever failed.

you might consider a spare spring kit although i'd say , don't bother carrying that extra weight in your range bag , you'll hardly ever use it . other than the recoil spring once every couple years, glock parts never fail or break.

It sounds like you got a good one, it probably wouldn't hurt to freshen it up with a couple more new springs.

That's a great list will be part of my maintenance regime
