C-19 Canadian Ranger rifle will be available to the public

Yup. A friend runs guided caribou hunts in the NWT. All the guides apparently now use CRF guns after an inuit guide was mauled by a polar bear, as they will feed in any orientation. Push feed guns aren't known to feed well when the rifle is upside down or the ejection port is angled downward.

I use to believe that push feeds will not reliably feed upside down or ejection port down as well....that is until I got bored a few weeks ago and gave it a try with a 700 in 30-06. Inverted, port up, port down, rifle face up or down, feeding fast, or very slowly, the Remington 700 feed 100 % reliably every time. :)

try that with a SA rem 700 ....

It's a neat rifle... So is the Ruger scout...... I own 2 scouts..... They cost me less together than these cost for one.... Even after subtracting "training allowance" etc...... Just saying.....

I'm curious as to what the "civvie" price is going to be
Will it be $1500 like an upgraded CTR should be, or will it be $5000 to cash in on the novelty.

Completely agree...... And hope we don't compare it to the fully loaded price, but some will.... I was at one point a ranger.....

I am all in favor of training based on what I saw...... But I am against all of this development and prototyping bs........

Instead of the claw on the bolt holding the cartridge, the feed lips in the magazine hold it until the cartridge in far enough into the chamber that it has NO place to go other than further into the chamber. :)

I continue to be unimpressed. It may be the perfect rifle for the Rangers, and that is great for them if it is.

All I see is a Tikka in a laminate with some add ons....Again, if I wanted a rifle of this style, it would be the Ruger Scout.

Having owned both T3s and Rugers (Gunsight Scout), I would respectfully disagree. I find the Ruger bolts to have too much play for my liking and if you try to run them quick the action binds. Long before this new ranger rifle came out I commented about how great it would be if the Gunsight Scout had a T3 action. The Ranger rifle pretty much fits the bill, just no top loading the mag (do you really need that feature?) and no scout scopes (I personally didn't need that feature either).

If it's anything less than 5000$ for on the shelf, wouldn't that be a sure sign of the BS that is the contract for colt Canada to build/provide them for 4x more than what they're worth????

then you are better than the clients i guided for years with SA rem 700. but that is always good to hear. i will try myself soon with one ...

I was surprised that it fed so reliably with the 30-06 when I first tried it....the 7-08 is loaded with Berger 140VLD's...I thought the most chance for a failure to feed would be with a very slow feed so when I did this(with the SA) I took about 1.5-2 sec to cycle the bolt.

A hundred years ago there grand fathers would probably have said the same thing about the selection of the Lee Enfield over the Ross rifle!:)

yup, everytime somebody comes up with a new design and it judged not as good as the older one regardless of everything.

Looks like a good rifle to me. Overpriced sure but that's ''normal'' for the governement to spend more than needed for no reason.

It's a GREAT rifle, just not worth even close to what they're spending - but what the hell, it's not THEIR money!!!!
