Hi All,

I have a Lee Turret press, which is pretty good, but I'm finding the the locking rings are binding on each other and are kind of a PITA. If I knew then what I know now I would've got a straightforward single station press.

What would you suggest for that?? Rock Chucker?? simple Lee? RCBS Partner??

I, being me, looked for "THE BEST" and found the co-ax and the ATRS MAXX, but it the co-ax seems to have odd case holders, etc and the ATRS is an insane price. In all honesty my 200$ Lee Turret makes rounds with run-out of <.001, so I'm good with that.

Thx.

I have a Hornady 00-7 and an RCBS partner press. Both are good and satisfy my present reloading needs. I mostly deprime/resize on the hornady and flare/seat on the RCBS.

The Hornady is a stronger press but is angled in a way that forces you to do all your brass manipulation with your left hand while using your right hand to pull the lever.

The RCBS partner press is ambidextrous. Not as robust as my Hornady but strong enough for all my pistol calibers and .223.

Hope this helps.

Lee classic cast looks unbeatable for the cost.
I still use my lee breech lock for various things, and i have the coax also, but is it really better i dont know.

Want best, get the co-ax. Case holder, slide in self align die, fix primer depth is great. Only complain is with the mech adv. it is easy to apply way too much force. Crushing brass like in your avatar is very easy with the co-ax.

+1 It's an amazing press..

I have a lee classic turret and a lee classic single on my bench. The classic single stage press is beefy and produces good ammo for me. RCBS has better warranty I believe but also costs more.

I have a Dillon 550B for volume and run a Lee Classic Cast Breach Lock single press for accurate loads and odd jobs like bullet pulling or brass swaging. I use the Lee safety primer on the press and find it very useful. The breach lock system is also very nice. I haven't any complaints at all with the Lee. Big beefy construction, affordable price.

I use the RCBS knurled lock ring, they are small enough to clear each other on the turret.

Overtime I think you will see the advantages of the Co-Ax

What do you feel are the advantages?? I'm not adverse to it, would just like to know before I drop 550$

As for mechanical advantage, my 105lb wife could crush that brass!! It's not an issue of physics as much as it is poor planning and not knowing WTF i'm doing, hence the stupid pout....

That's what I use, I'll upgrade the press when I have to start neck turning brass. Til then the cheap press will do, with the cheap Lee dies.

Why a different press when you turn??

I should turn some for you and see if it makes a difference in that DT of yours....would be an interesting experiment.

For one self centering dies no shell holders makes sense to me.. the last time I checked the press was around $480.00 at X-Reload it went up due to the dollar tanking used to be around $300.

How do you co-ax users find the press for adjusting dies? It looks as though once set up it'd be awesome cause the die would remain set up. Just wondering how it compares to a standard o frame as far as making final adjustments with the die inside the frame like that. Really interested in that press as like the OP I'm looking for a new single stage. Thanks
