Lee pro 1000 powder recommendation

So I have a Lee pro 1000 and about 8 lbs of titegroup and had the intention of using it to reload 9mm and 45 acp..... then discovered that titegroup does not meter well at all out of the Lee auto disk charger.

So my question is what do you guys with the auto disk use for 9mm and 45 acp instead of titegroup?
 
Don't believe what you read. Titegroup meters fine out of the autodisc measure.

If you are leaking a lot of the powder then it's due to a gap between the plastic hopper and the disc. You might have some flashing or something that's holding it high. Fix it so the disc is a snug but still movable fit.

OK, just saw the bit about clumping. I'd say that the powder got some condensation in it or otherwise somehow got wet. You may need to spread it out on a surface in a warm area to dry then put it back into the container.

The point here is that clumping isn't normal for Titegroup or any other powder and it's not something that the Autodisc powder measure will cause.
 
I use Winchester 231 with no issues. Works well with the disks. I bought Lee's adjustable charge bar but set at 4.8 grains always came short, so I went back to the disks. I have two progressive 1000 presses. 9mm and 45. No issues with either.
 
I had the same problem with titegroup. I was also using the Lee adjustable charge bar and had the powder bridging, butthat was for light .357 target loads. I now use the disks and switched to WST (until I can't find anymore). I like HS-6 for 9mm.

Yes, I have an auto disk and with tight group I have done around 4000 rounds with no issue. I would be curious if there isn't a problem with your batch of powder or maybe a manufacturing problem with your measure as a few others have mentioned. I would strip it down and see if anything stands out as odd. Pay close attention to the rubber seal, perhaps it has a fold in it blocking the powder from flowing.

Also, don't be tempted by the charge bar, wasted money.

w231/hp-38, tightgroup, w296/h110, hs-6, bullseye and many more close in size work great in my auto disc on all 3 of my pro1k's.

What i have an issue with is when using the micrometer add on is charges under 4.5gr of those powders. if i use the stock disk's that come with it, it works fine.
 
I'd forgot about the little lens shape. But even so the Lee 1000 I used to have which I gave to a buddy a couple of years ago has fed about 15 lbs of Titegroup and Bullseye in small charges for cowboy action reloading without any issue. And it has the adjustable bar. So I'm still thinking in terms of moisture in the powder somehow or perhaps a high static electricity situation.

It seems to be that the micrometer doesn't move back far enough with smaller charges to get enough or any powder into it. I've thought about modifying it but haven't got around to it just yet. I was thinking of filing an angle into it to reach the powder drop from the powder hopper but i would have to close the micrometer even more which may nullify the filing.
 
My two Auto-Disk work fine with TG, as low as 3.4grs, which is the lower you can go with the regular disks.

The charge bar is an other story as, when set to its minimum, the cavity doesn't quite face the hopper hole. A LEE tech reportedly declared that it was intented more for heavy loads than light ones (so why not increase the maximum capacity?).
So shooters around the world have come with the solutions of shimming or "epoxying" the bar's body in order to move the cavity forwards (this will reduce the maximum capacity).
