CZ vs Ruger which Would You Choose?

I am going to order a 17 hornet soon and I am debating between the CZ 527 (either American or varmint) and the Ruger 77. The Ruger and the varmint weigh about the same and the American and the Ruger are about the same price. Both are supposed to be accurate but the CZ are said to have a better trigger. I think the Ruger would have a higher re-sale value. So what do you fine people think Ruger or CZ? TC
 
I would go CZ. I really like the single set trigger. My 527 varmint .223 is great, had it out today actually, very accurate with good ammo. I find it hard to believe that the Ruger's resale value would be higher than the CZ.
 
I have the 77 in .22 fit and finish is outstanding and it is quite accurate but the trigger is quite stiff with a pull of 6lb. I think the term is litigation proof.
 
I don't think you would be disappointed with either. I own both and love both. Sorry, that doesn't really help with the decision. Whichever costs less, I guess.
 
I'm considering similar, but haven't yet decided on .17 or .22 Hornet. I am leaning toward the .22. I wish CZ offered the Varmint in 22 Hornet, but would have to settle for the American. I like the Ruger 77/22 heavy barrel with the Green Mountain laminate stock, but the cost of changing the trigger to bring it up to the equal of the CZ swings decision toward the CZ.

My choice in the 17 would be either the 527 Varmint or the 77/17 with laminate... If I could find either.

That brings a question to mind. When I started to look a few months ago, it seemed many dealers had the CZ offerings. Now most seem to be sold out. Does CZ only ship at certain times in the year or do the distributors have stock and the dealers just haven't restocked?
 
I have had 4 Ruger rifles - 3 no. 1's and a 77, and my son also has 2 #1's. While they are (were) very serviceable rifles, well-made and hunting grade accurate, none of them were tack drives. I've only had 2 CZ rifles, and both were extremely accurate. My bet would be the CZ.

Ive had my Ruger 22 hornet for many years now, did a trigger job on it recently...super ez and a huge improvement, awesome gun very accurate, love it, i picked up a Browning abolt micro 22 hornet recently and i actually like it more, and its more accurate. I bought my first CZ this past weekend in a 527 American 223, as i was not interested in a 17, not sure i waited so long to own a CZ, gotta love that trigger and a great shooter. For me personally The CZ and Browning are a tie followed by the Ruger, i dont think you can go wrong with either of them. What ever feels the best.
 
I own the Cz 527 varmint in 17 whore gnat and absolutely love the gun and cartridge. My only complaint is finding enough targets for it. I'd like to order a flush mount mag to make it a bit more comfy to carry while roaming for varmints but in every other way it's a great rifle/cartridge combo. I'd like one in 17 & 221 fireball and just about any other small varmint round the action will feed.

Happy with my CZ 527 American in .204 Ruger.
 
+1 Ruger 77/17, mine shoots factory 20gn under MOA out of the box. I put a trigger on it, but a smith could easily rework existing. Like the flush 6rd mag. Fun gun. Definitely recommend.
 
The 77/17 is based on the rimfire action, on my .22lr I put a spring in it similar to the yodave mod on my tikka. I'm not sure if they are still available, but a 10 min fix to a much improved trigger.

I want to like the CZ, but can't get passed the scope mounting issues. I would like a 527 American in a McMillen Hunters edge stock...

If you're asking me, .17cal centerfires is the large centerfire cal I can use fox hunting on PEI, .204 would be illegal for use on foxes.
I don't recall ever seeing 204 ammo for sale here, 17hornet isn't popular either but I can find it.
