Second Double Gun Classic (Side by Side Get Together)

Following Cat's lead, I'll make sure I have more than one SxS (Ha Ha) with me to ensure that those who want to shoot one, have one available to them. You just have to promise not to drop it. Or play swords with it. Or plug the muzzles with mud.

I'm having a little difficulty locating some Winchester AA low recoil low noise shotshells. Anybody have any ideas who may have some. Bass Pro says they don't and same for Gagnon's. No answer at Accuracy Plus this morning.

Try to get a picture or two for National Double Gun Day. :shotgun:

There's a great gentleman that's a regular at my club who shoots some gorgeous sxs guns. Unfortunately his health isn't what it used to be and some are for sale in the EE. He's the one that got me hooked on sxs guns. He even let me shoot his Holland and Holland. This weekend I'm taking some younger brothers of a friend out shooting. Hopefully I can get them hooked on sxs guns. And maybe ill win the lottery and buy my good friends Royal. It fits so right

I've seen those guns in the EE. Amazing!

Hey...I may or may not be driving at the moment, and I may or may not be speeding, and I may or may not be wearing my glasses......but I think I see a couple of boxes 16g in that pile! Sweet!

sdvc and I have vintage hammer guns in 10,12, 16, and 20 as well as a couple of modern hammer doubles lined up for tomorrow!:dancingbanana:

Have fun today Cat....we will. Just wish the temps were a little more co-operative. Should be below zero the entire time we are out there.

Woohoo!!! Plans have changed and I will attend the event, excited to meet all the CGNers there. As usual, I will be the ugly girl at the prom, the only SXS I own is the first gun I ever hunted with, a plain-jane Spanish Laurona 20ga that my grandpa gave me.

You sir are a true gentleman! Your statement is akin to a Bentley driver admiring his neibour's S.E.A.T.. Wishing you a great day at your shoot!

Break time! Guns at rest...

Well, now that I am warmed up enough to type, another great time out at the range. Thanks to all who came out. Lots of fun shooting and lots to look at. Memorable guns I saw were a lovely little Utica Fox in 20 gauge with what looked like full case colours as well as a fully restored custom Fox early style B grade with some stunning wood on it, including the most svelte beavertail ever created. I also kinda liked the Super Fox that got pulled out at the end. (I like Foxes!). There was also an interesting new Pedersoli hammer gun, a nearly new Win M24 in 16 gauge and what will be an exquisite Parker hammer gun in I don't know what grade that is identifiable on the rack because the stock is mostly finished being carved but it has no finish on it yet. And I was reminded of what a great job VictoryXC can do for anyone who wants a burgundy coloured stock!

Thanks again to Patrick and Rick for their efforts at putting the day together. Well done guys. Just one suggestion. Patrick should no longer allowed to pick the day. He and the weather don't seem to be getting along!

So the big question, how many of those shotguns are not older than you?:)

It's funny.....I'm 57 now and if a gun isn't older than me, it's appeal is significantly reduced. My brain may be a bit twisted but I only think a gun is old now if it was made in the 1800's. I have a couple of old guns. LOL

Glad to hear you guys had a good time despite the temperature. Yes, I'd blame Patrick for that!!!
Yes, a gun isn't old unless it's below 1900!
