North Eastern Arms

Okay cool...wasn't sure if there was some holy grail of the AR world that comes up under a g note from time to time.

On a separate note, the NEA upper I just took on trade had the forward assist shear off after I racked the charging handle back to disperse the fresh oil on the BCG literally 2 minutes ago...take that however you want. Didn't even shoot the facking thing. I guess we'll see if their customer service has improved any.

The current generation of NEA rifles are excellent. They have a lifetime warranty, and are Canadian. That means no ITAR hassles.

Unless you're attempting to import an AR-15 from the U.S on your own I fail to see how ITAR would impact you... unless the vast majority of us who own American made ARs have had issues we aren't aware of.

I'm a bit of a top tier AR snob, but picked up an NEA PDW with their CCS stock and 7.5" bbl recently for the novelty. The rifle, I found, was extremely well machined and finished. Thus far I'm liking it a lot. There are other options in the same price range. Your best bet is to handle one yourself and compare to other entry level offerings from US manufacturers. Unfortunately, opinions on NEA products are entirely too polarized on CGN and some of the harshest critics have yet to even handle an NEA let alone shoot one. There's no question that the first generation guns had some major issues and that the company could've handled things better trying to deal with the fallout. However, from everything I've been able to ascertain personally, they've corrected previous issues with their product line and they stand behind their product. Their customer service Dept has been very quick to answer any questions I have had and I have no complaints. But, as with anything so subjective, YMMV. Best of luck with the new rifle, whatever it may be. :)

Except that they are still having catastrophic failures of bolt and barrel components.

I appreciate the feed back and there are clearly some very mixed reviews on the NEA's. I think I will bide my time and keep my eye on the EE board for a used unit. Now I just have to work on being patient.

Good call.

You have to wonder just how bad a Canadian made manufacturer, selling reasonably priced rifles has to be to be held in such contempt by so many gun nuts.

And yep...NEA are that bad.

I'm sorry, I just can't help it....

I feel like a 16 year old girl when it comes to NEA threads... I literally can't even...

Well it's not like I didn't know about the issues with these damn rifles. I guess I'm just an eternal optimist. Hopefully they'll come back with some extraordinary customer service so I can shill NEA for the rest of my life on CGN (until I'm banned for it :p).

I got my NEA-15 in 2015 X'mas boxing deal. It is a 7.5" barrel and the cal is 7.62x39. It is gen II. Go though 600 rds rapid fire (and ran out all ammo). NO-ONE-SHOT jam. Is beautiful!!! I love it!

Well....FWIW, I contacted them and they said as long as I provided pics they'd send out a new forward assist...can't complain about that...but a new in box upper probably would have been the better way to go lol :D

to the OP , love my nea , gen 2 , shoots and cycles just fine on all ammo , my reloads and all factory ammo ... nothings broken , and everything works as it should , I will buy more , if it breaks , will deal with it then , ..as for customer service , the service we have in New Zealand is fantastic , ... as for MG whatsisface ,,,, bleat bleat blest bleat

NEA threads are like Norinco threads, except NEA threads usually come with first hand failure cases.

Yes, your right, an NEA thread usually starts with a first hand failure. Sometimes it's a Rifle that looks like it got tossed out the window of a moving car a few times and sometimes it looks brand new. What follows is a torrent of BS and embellishing the event, with a few of my brother's, nephew's, friend comments tossed in for good measure. Other Manufactures Rifles have parts break or ship with flaws so glaring you wonder who the monkey was that boxed it up. Only NEA gets the Scapegoat treatment here at Gunnutz.

To punctuate my point, an upper received in trade with a broken part should be replaced by a NIB upper (it sheared off the first time you cocked it? possible but pretty unlikely). Perhaps it was dropped, unless you live with the person you got it from you really don't know do you. Instead of being really pleased that it's being replaced pretty much no questions asked he thinks he should get a new upper...even if it's a joke this is the kind of attitude that makes me wonder about why some get excellent customer service and others don't.

1 year and still waiting for the fix for my issue, they just stopped returning my emails. So I'm not holding my breathe, will never ever buy another piece of junk from them.
