2016 IDF Tavor Course Dates and Details

Hmm, are there any good places to stay in Chilliwack? I'm usually just there to drop off livestock to the packer! Never slept over! :)

I realize that PT means physical training... can anyone provide an idea of the standards required to met? Already signed up...

There are no standards you have to meet. Lovie is very accommodating and as long as you put your best effort forward she won't make you do push ups.

I'd love to take the course in Calgary or Peace River.. Shattered my femur last year, knee is still Fubar from surgery..
Can I still come out to play??

The course I took with them last November was very demanding on knees and holding a half squatted position, if you don't think you can do that for a couple days, you may want to consider waiting until your better. We did lots of reps of dry fire going half squatted to kneeling to half squatted to kneeling, to half squatted...... and so on.

WEAR QUALITY KNEE PADS. Also make sure you wear good foot wear that allows your toes to bend to stay properly grounded to go right back into standing in one fluid movement. Steel toed boots not recommended! Lol

Do you need your PAL for this course? I have a friend of mine who'd love to do it and use my spare Tavor. I will of course, be present. I know Silverdale allows members to bring guests so I thought i'd ask.

Hey onetwentyish,
I really appreciate the info! Looks like I need to hold off, I can't even do a full squat yet. Lol.
For those that are in good health, this course looks amazing!!

You're not the only person to ask about this. We're looking into it with our insurance, but its definitely not something we planned for.

Current suspicion is that the underwriters will have no problem with non-PAL holders attending the dry fire portions, but that there may be issues with the live-fire.

can you please provide the hours of the course in the various days? im looking at silverdale.
wondering if to drive back to Toronto daily or just stay close by.

For those asking about accommodations in Chilliwack: I've secured a great rate at the Vedder River Inn, which is about 15 minutes from the Range. Call them at 604-824-7999 and give them code FISGAM. This will get you a rate of $70+tax per night for a Queen Room or $75+tax per night for two doubles or a King. These rooms are first-come, first-served, so don't delay!

Look forward to seeing you there!

Just to confirm. The first day of the course starts in the evening? I actually may have a daytime appointment. Thanks

That's correct. On 3 day courses the first evening is maintenance, introduction, and theory. You'll want your rifle, but we won't be putting rounds down-range. Start time is right around 6pm for the first evening.

Two day courses have the same content, but we take that evening portion and roll it into the other days. Expect to start earlier and stay a little later on a two day course.

If anyone is travelling over an hour to come to an evening portion on the first day, let us know. We can look at alternatives.

Sure thing! Our normal setup is:

6pm - 9pm Day 1
9am - 5pm Day 2
9am - 5pm Day 3

If lots of people are doing lots of driving: let us know

It's easy for us to drop day 1 and run a compressed format like this:

Im coming from Toronto to Silverdale and would prefer the Saturday/Sunday option.

For the Vancouver course a few of us are driving to Abbotsford from the Vancouver city area and would definitely appreciate a 2-day condensed course as it's about 2+ hours of total travel time each day. Maybe check the ticket purchasers' billing addresses and see where most are attending from before making the decision though? Looking forward to meeting the Zahal team! :d

You moved the May 17-19 course from Lower Trent Valley to Silverdale?
If so, I would prefer the compressed 2 day version
