I have had it......
I set up.my game camera over some feed ( 1st time using it ever) I put down for turkeys...STOLEN 3 DAY LATER
I am on private property right across from the fair grounds in Orangeville Ont.
I'm sick of having my equipment stolen by assh%/$s.......
I've had tree stands stolen..fishing gear stolen and now this camera
I don't know how many times I have passed other people's stuff in the bush and showed the utmost respect for it....taking a wide birth so as not to disturb anything..
What ever happened to ethics???
I have written down the location because if by chance the person with my camera reads this ,I want him or her to know....I have alot of friends and I may get lucky and find out who you are.......I promise you will regret , to your core ever crossing me...
So knowing that...... enjoy the camera..I hope it serves you like I had hoped it would serve me...
THIS IS THE REASON PEOPLE WHO ARE ETHICAL AND LOVE THE SPORT FOR THE SPORT, NOT FOR THE RACK ON THE WALL BUT FOR THE WORK IT TAKES TO PUT THERE,,SHAKE THEIR HEADS IN DISGUST AT THE JERKS WHO DO THIS CRAP....YOUR A DISCRACE TO THE SPORT
RICHARD

That sucks, some people are just disrespectful jerks.

On a side note, not that long ago I heard a story about the trail cams that SMS pictures to you, a guy caught the thieves because the camera sent their pictures to his phone.

very funny getting busted by the thing you are stealing.

I set my cameras in 3s. I also have a note on each saying there are other cameras overlooking it. Need to hook it up to a magneto with a good charge>

After losing 2 cameras in my area I got even and setup a sacrificial camera with a surprise attached. Basically used the flash capacitor from a disposable camera and used 2 metal hose clamps to mount the camera. Once they touch both hose clamps to remove it they get a shock. I did lose the one camera as the would be thief smashed it to pieces after getting a nice shock 3 times from what we counted on the other cameras!

Haven't had a issue since!

and upgrade to a larger capacitor..... much larger....

I know the feeling...and feel for you!!! Eventually (it took me a while!) you come to realize that a significant portion of the population are only honest when they think someone is 'watching' them! Otherwise if they don't 'steal it' they will maliciously 'destroy it' .....certainly makes a strong case for compulsory sterilization of some people. On the other hand.....if it was across from 'Fairgrounds' maybe you caught someone(s) In the 'act' doing something they didn't want photographed....and they grabbed the camera!!

Buy a bear trap from Tradex. Not really as it's illegal.I has some A - Holes cut down three large trees with a chainsaw to steal locked stands once. I know a fellow hunting on crown land where a guide was also lurking that had someone pour diesel into his active bear bait barrels to dissuade feeding.slugs come in all types........Harold

I had one stolen last fall after it was used to catch people dumping #### on our property. OPP took the pictures to the person and made them clean it up. Even though I had moved the camera, wrapped in white camo tape 12 feet up in a birch tree, the bastard s got it. A different dead one is going back this spring with a couple of disguised cameras watching it. I will post some pictures when done.

Check out chasingame.com, some great ideas there.

Any chance of posting pictures of the capacitor / hose clamp set up - I am not very electrically inclined and would like a picture to see how that is done.

I like the idea of a well hidden camera watching the trail cam. Nothing like catching a thief in the act and then confronting them with their behaviour. Might be an idea to have some back-up, depending on who the thieves are.

Just buy those dummy grenades and attach the camera to the pin... I know if I pulled that camera off a tree and saw a pin come out of a grenade there would be a trail all the way back to my house lol that'd be a show with the hidden camera idea.
Maybe I have a weird sense of humour.

LOL me too!

Sorry about your stolen gear. I have a two man tree stand not set up and in my garage collecting dust for this very reason...to bad some individuals have no respect.

Man, really makes me nervous about setting up my new cameras next deer season on public land, especially if this crap is happening on private land. I wouldn't ever think of doing this to anyone. People are horrible.

I hunt on private land also not too far away, and I won't leave a single thing behind, that place has more visitors than I can count. Its either kids running through on dirt bikes, atv's, bicycles, or adults walking dogs, stealing the carrots, and just walking through. Rarely a day goes by that I don't see somebody out there. I won't leave a store bought tree stand out there, but have several homemade one around the field. Ive caught others hunters sitting in them a few times over the years when I show up to hunt. Once they smashed one out of the tree on me.
If I were you, I wouldn't leave anything around either from now on, somebody will find it and take it on you.
