I'm looking to get into 3 gun and am in the market for a carbine and would like something other than an AR. I know the 18.6" barrel makes the XCR non-restricted but I'm interested in a restricted 14.5" barrel.

How come I can't find these for sale anywhere? Are they not in Canada?

check on wolverine website they might have them if not they may be a special order
 
Wolverine Supplies will not risk jeopardizing the XCR's NR status, by importing any barrels that is less than 18.6" uses the full length piston , however you can take a look at the XCR Mini with a 10" barrel.
 
I think your only option for a restricted L length gas system would be a rebarrel. Won't be cheap tho. The light barrel does away with the frontheavyness but for short length you might not have the prerequisite arm and leg left over for 3 gun.

any good links for vids for cleaning and lubing this gun? What kinds of brushes would you guys use? How about to clean the barrel, bore snake it?

1/4" allen key for barrel bolt. An action cleaning kit is very useful. The kind that has little round patches the look like small segments of rope. For ghe bore, use a good 1 piece rod like a Dewey's coated rod or Tipton carbon fiber. The segmented steel and aluminum rods are not good for the bore. Patches and solvent. Bore snakes or ok but don't do a very good cleaning job. Like washing your car with wet wipes, it works but there are better ways. A bronze brush is a must for a semi, hard baked on powder fouling is tough to get off without one. You'll quickly figure it all out and find what you like and don't like for cleaning tools.
 
To the handloaders/precision jockeys on here: what bullet does this rifle like? I like the A-Maxes and Berger VLDs in my bolt gun, any luck with those in the ACR?

thanks for the reply buddy. Would you recommend lubing up the bolt n bolt carrier when taken out of the box for the first day shoot?
 
I will lube up the bcg,action spring and guide rod really well and only keep bolt face and gas block area dry and fire 50-100 rnds with gas setting at 4 if your xcr is bnib.
 
Just buy a good set of imperial Allen Keys, not loose ones or those on a ring, but a folding set. You'll want the other sizes to make adjustments to your fast stock or tighten it up at the least. With this is you can take down, service and tighten everything on the gun. Rods are best for cleaning, prefer pull through cables over bore snakes. For break in ~100 / 200 rounds, you'll want your XCR-L/M well lubricated for the bolt and carrier / rails. Adjust your gas system so it fully cycles, don't leave it on 4 ... once broken in, adjust your gas down to the lowest setting where it will still cycle with your load. I personally like to grease my bolt and carrier rails, dry lube on the trigger control group, everything else is wiped down with a good oil.
 
I haven't started load development on my light barrel but my 1-9" .223 heavy barrel shot well with 55gr Hornady FMJs and VMAX. I'll be trying those plus 75 hpbt in the 1-9" light barrel.

I've heard both sides to the arguement, but RA has specific instructions about lubing. "Sparingly" the say.
I've run my XCR, what most of you would think as dry, for 18,000+ rounds. I use G96 and very little of it.
