I finally have some pictures worth posting of my range day. I've shot maybe 600 rounds ever, prior to this outing yesterday. This goes to prove how accurate this pistol is, if it does this well in my hands.

First, the beauty itself:

10 meters after a bit of warm-up:

I felt I was doing pretty good, so I pushed back to 15 meters:

I liked the grouping, but the spread was too large, so I tried again:

I figured this was looking good, so I pushed it out to 20 meters:

Hmmmm, not bad- So I tried again:

Well, I must have been in the groove so I figured "What the heck" and put it to max distance, 25 meters:

"Holy Crap!" I says. I hit the Bull! Let's give it one last try:

Wow. That's all I can say about this pistol. 75 feet away. The entire black circle of the target was less than half the width of my front sight post. Unbelievable accuracy in this gun. I will never, ever let it go! LOL

My only gripe with it is that the trigger has a very hard break through. I would like a lighter pull. These shots are taken with very slow deliberation and the arms start to get tired waiting for the trigger to break. If I try to rush it or squeeze too hard too quickly, I lose accuracy and usually shoot low to the left. I always figured it was my sights until someone pointed out what I was doing. It's a non-adjustable trigger though so I guess I just need to keep practicing to get used to it so I can maintain accuracy but increase my speed. I have heard of people doing aftermarket trigger work, but I don't know anything about that business. I suppose if I could get someone to do it for me, it may help my speed. I figured Sig designed this gun this way for a reason though, so it's up to me to adapt. It's fun practicing though! :D

So, this is a good illustration of how accurate this gun is for anybody thinking of buying one. Do not hesitate! Then never look back.

Great shooting. I had, shot and handled a lot of nice target guns and the X5s and 6s are among the best imo.

Nice shooting!! Sigs are great. I especially love the grips on yours. Well done!

I love the feel of these grips. Holding the gun is just smooth as silk. I only had the original grips on for the first 50 rounds or so that I put down the pipe, so I don't even remember what they felt like to shoot with. I see most guns have very grippy grips these days but I've never shot one to really know the difference. I've been thinking about getting another handgun someday in a 9mm polymer striker format, just for something completely different. My preference would be for a PPQM2 or maybe a Glock 34 but I doubt I will ever get the opportunity to handle either prior to a purchase. I hear Glocks are "love or hate" and have uncomfortable grip stippling, while the PPQ is a dream to hold in the hand. But then I look at what my 226 can do and ask myself "why bother?" lol...

While the PPQ is very nice I felt that it was very snappy even in 9mm. I think a Glock would be the better direction to go if I were you. Even if you have the P226 it's always good to have variety when you go to shoot so you don't get bored shooting the same gun over and over. Maybe try the new Glock 41 and spice things up. But enjoy your 226!!
