Are there any available in Canada besides the Ruger factory FO front sight? I'd rather not deal with Snap Shots after some of the horror stories I've heard about them. Preferably red front and green rear. Let me know if you know of somewhere I might be able to source these. Thanks.

ive heard of a couple people having snap shot replace the sites on their SR1911 with FO and no problems.

hard to mess that up.
not impossible mind you.

youd probably be ok using them for a simple site swap.

without digging out my SR1911's i believe they are the same as my SAM for the cut which would mean that any aftermarket FO should work for them.
i had Wolverine swap out the front on one of my 1911's for a FO one, check with their in house gunsmith.
was about the same price as snapshot if memory serves me correctly.

Not so much concerned with them messing up as I am with them taking forever. This is my only handgun right now and I need it to shoot a qualifier in a couple of weeks.

That sucks brother. In a situation like that, you have to a) pay a handy gun smith who has parts availability at his shop, or b) have a gun shop with a selection on or behind the counter and do the job yourself.

Always have a back up; and at minimum, a back up to that back up. 3 gats keep the ammo humming and the steel plates ringing. ( a lesser man would suggest that you consider a Glock 21 if .45 acp is your thing. But I'm better than that. :))

Sadly, no one in town has a front sight that will fit. I am waiting on email responses from Snap Shots, Brownells and Wanstalls (they have a couple of Fusion sights on their website). I have received offers to borrow guns for the match but I would really rather shoot my own equipment if possible.

I do not intend to stick with 45ACP. I am actually leaning towards another 1911 in 9mm just to save on ammo costs. Then I would still use the same holster and mag pouches. Also debating a pre-order on a new CZ Shadow 2.

Ok, slight problem. The local shop that was going to install the sight for me can't do it. Their sight pusher won't work with the rounded top slide on the Ruger SR1911. Does anyone know of a gunsmith (preferably in BC) that can do the install for me? I'd rather not ship it all the way back to Snap Shots.

just send the slide, not the entire gun.

trying to think of that fella in BC that people talk about all the time.... Bumblebee gunsmithing????
Bumblebee custom gunsmithing, i just googled it.
that is the fella that use to work for Gunnar at ARMCO and has not branched out on his own.
