Well boys need your opinions on the savage 11 hoghunter and possible potentials

What's the opinions floating around here on using a savage hoghunter in .223 for a precision build? Thinking scrap the iron sights and go from there, any ideas to start with? And has anyone tried?

had a model 11 trophy international predator hunter XP in 223... Dropped in a HS3, was sub moa gun all day long.. Sold it to a fellow CGN'r and he is pumping out this with it...
 
The hog hunters an odd savage 11, it has a closed in box magazine with no mag well hatch, it possible to source aftermarket stocks for it?
 
Yes, all aftermarket stocks for the 10, 12, 14 fit the 11. Just be sure you pay attention to any lug spacing specs.

I'm planning to put my hog hunter into a MDT LSS stock
 
Price was right got it on trade. I'd prefer to have started with a savage 10 or a rem700 but considering I got this on trade I figured what the hell, my wife wants to take up precision shooting to and wants a .223 so this seems like a start.

Agreed...

Why don't you try to trade it on the EE for something closer to what you want to end up with? The Iron Sights have some attraction to some. If you must use the Hog Hunter why not just leave the sights alone?
 
True, might post it back up, I'd do an even swap for a rem700 for sure. The main issue I find is grabbing the attention of the right guys. When you have an item to trade and your looking for a particular item in another category. I've noticed not many long range guys lurk in the hunting section or many hunting or milsurp guys in the long range... So how to advertise it in The category you wish to trade in? Near impossible as your adds get hauled, even if your looking for an item in the category you post under just because your trade item doesn't quite fit the category your looking for.

go look and offer trades to sellers.
 
Come to think of it.... It would be a good base for a scout rifle build :D I still want to bed it and milk every ounce of accuracy I can get out of it.
