I would like to get some feedback on Taurus and specifically on the PT92SS or PT99SS.
There are a lot of mixed reviews, but you can't ignore the lower price. Thanks for any experiences you can share.

I can't speak on the newer models, but I know that the older ones were damn near indestructible. They are basically Berettas.

A local range here had one that they used for a range gun that anyone could use. That pistol had many, many thousands of rounds put through it with only weekly cleanings, and there was never a hitch with that gun.

Impressed me.

If one comes along at a sensible price I plan to get one.

Great, thank-you very much for the feedback! I really appreciate it.

I have heard mixed reviews, but I figured they can't be too bad since they bought the Beretta factory in South America. I'd be looking for a PT92/99.

I keep hearing people say things like, "...they're made in the old Beretta factory on the same equipment..."

Think about that. It's ridiculous. How many years have passed since Beretta sold the plant to Taurus? Which machines are the same? Which quality control processes are the same? Which workers are the same?

A statement that might have been true when we first read it in Guns & Ammo, back in 1985, most certainly isn't true today.
