Insite Arms fixing poorly built cooper arms rifles

Sounds like he gave the retailer an opportunity to me, or did you miss that, he can do what he wants with it rebarrel it or whatever he likes he chose to take it to his smith and have the work done....lots of mass produced guns end up at smiths for whatever reason from time to time as mistakes happen quite often when an operation gets to a certain size. It seems to be a real hang up on cooper in general, if they are your system of choice great, they just might not be the choice of others....I think this post was more to point out a chambering problem and not what the warranty of the manufacturer is or was or the dealer for that matter or who the smith that did the repairs...I am sure if it was a problem worth the effort it would have made it to cooper rifles.

I can think of a couple good reasons for mounting a scope 1/4 turn from the norm, and belittling a customer for it might not make you the smartest guy/gal that ever stood behind a counter. Bad for business if nothing else.

I had extraction problems with 2 Coopers, both of which got fixed locally. Sometimes it's just easier that way.

.I am sure if it was a problem worth the effort it would have made it to cooper rifles.

At over $1000 for a barrel and the labor to install it, I would think that it was worth the effort to have Cooper resolve the issue.

An interesting thread - we have: a top-shelf brand rifle which is allegedly defective; an attempt to take said defect up with the retailer whose only commentary appears to be "idiot, you have the scope incorrectly mounted"; and, a repair by a gunsmith business which, coincidentally, is owned by a former employee of the retailer and which repair one would assume was not done gratis. I cannot understand why Cooper Rifles was not approached; why Prophet River appear to have brushed this aside and why the OP was content to simply go elsewhere.

I am sure that the thread will provide more information as it goes on.

I mean, if a guy turns a Cooper into the zesty lime green zombie slayer, maybe this was a perfect opportunity to get a bum barrel! Come on guys, did you see that wicked green!

f:P:

It probably cost him $1500-$2000 for the new barrel, the color, and the noisemaker on the end on the barrel, so hopefully the owner is happy with it.:)

The fixed Copper

I like it

Just an update for the CGN crew following this forum.
We contacted Cooper today and spoke with Mike who is the head smith at cooper. We went over a few specs and different things we had found with this particular rifle barrel and Mike was on the same page as to the issue that was encountered by the owner of the rifle. Mike also addressed the small tennon found on the early coopers and said now they run a tennon OD similar to the size of the Remington which is awesome on them. Also addressed the ones we have fixed where the rifle owners had issues with poor ejection and said they had switched to a larger and stronger spring rate to fix this is issue as well. Mike assures us they will look into how things were missed and was happy the customer is up and running. Great to hear a company making changes and keeping up with feedback.

The obvious question is whether Cooper is offering compensation in this case?

Was not discussed as it was our position that it was not our business. Cooper can look at that if they wish and contact the owner of the rifle.

I spoke with the sales staff and none had any recollection of this rifle being brought in and the original poster doesn't say when it was brought in . So, it hard to determine who his brother-in-law may have spoken to. Hard to know if we had a sales team member 'drop the ball' or if the brother -in-law communicated the actual problem, etc. I did look up the rifle sale and noted it was almost two years ago that we sold it. If any of our customers ever feels that their concerns are not being looked after, please PM here, ask to see Clay, email me (csmiley@prophetriver.com) or call and ask for Clay. :)

I'm sure there was never any doubt among your regular patrons. Your service has always been top shelf.

Much appreciated :)

I was just looking through our computer records as we looked for this cooper. In last three years, we've had over 50,000 orders go out the door by mail, courier, in store etc. We've certainly had orders not show up, delayed, lost in mail, incorrect items, etc. But we try to offer the best service possible and be 100% on orders, of course, impossible but a goal we'd like to strive for. Appreciate all of our customers and CGNers :)

yes, I'd also like to know why ones workspace dictates whether or not their criticism is valid or not. Bit of a douchbag are we?

Its not as much their workspace as it is their experience. Insite can correct me if I'm wrong but a couple of dozen fireams assembled from parts would likely be the upper limit to their 'building' to date. I own more cooper rifles than that and have yet to have an issue with any of them beyond a poor feeding mag in one model 51.

So exactly what are cooper rifles assembled out of if not parts? Do you think the guys at copper just crap out the barrels, actions and stocks etc? Insite arms may be the new guys on the block but everybody starts somewhere. And as far as the rifles that are out in the gun world now I personally know that they put in a lot of time working on their own gear first before they even would look at a "customers" gun. These guys use top shelve parts on top shelve equipment so if that doesn't make them gun builders I'm not sure what does.

Cooper20VT - You are taking this thread very personally. Nothing constructive. No contribution, only insults and negativity. This is a forum - grow-up!

Does anyone wonder who Cooper20VT is? ...Check out all his past posts: Nearly every post is either a set-up or reply along with Prophet River to promo the business - it is actually embarrassing.

Clay - Instead of putting all your energy into childish banter for online forums why didn't you just call the customer in question and make things right days ago?

Please, spare everyone a "witty" reply and save your time for questions on what Coopers are in the store.

If you are saying that Cooper20VT is Clay, that is incorrect. I have two accounts, one is Prophet River which we use for most everything, and I have my personal account which is SakoAlberta-which I had before PR was a business :). I have no idea who user is but its nice to have a fan. :)
As far as why not making it right by calling the customer, we did not know his name until this afternoon when we received the serial in question from Cooper firearms.
