Tikka T3

I have a tikka t3 varmint in .308, it is by far the most accurate rifle I a have ever owned. The build quality far surpasses a savage it is in a total different class.

holding them both side by side, tikka = way better action, very smooth and nice.....the craptastic plastic stocks on them make them look cheaper but you gotta pay a grand for the rifle with a crappy not very pleasing to the eye stock....
Savage axis comes in at like half the price...action isn't as smooth out of the box but im sure could be worked in....a guy showed me some sub moa pics with his axis at 100m or so....they are both tac drivers from what i hear...depends on what your budget says overpay for crappy stock or underpay for a craptastic stock

I know this will more than likely upset a few fans... but, I feel like the t3 is the European savage axis. Am I the only one who feels this way ?

Whaaaat ???

The ony thing I can complain about a T3 is maybe the factory synthetic stock and trigger guard.

IMO Tikka barelled action is way better than an Axis..

I'm not saying the axis is as good as the t3. I'm saying the t3 is Europe's budget rifle. Although I have seen some pretty impressive groups from a friend's .223 axis

I know what you mean but I would not call it a budget rifle but an entry level rifle.
Since Sako bought Tikka, higher end is Sako while Tikka is more the entry level.

Pretty much everything made in Europe is quality made.

As for Axis accuracy, some of them shoots pretty well.
That been said, accuracy and quality is 2 different things.

I had a Savage 10 FCP-K, which is a bit better than Axis and boy this thing can shoot, maybe had the same accuracy of rifles that cost 2 or 3 times the price of a Savage 10.
But now I prefer more quality rifles.
If i ever buy another Savage centerfire, it will be their Target/Single shot model 12, I will not go lower than that.

Personally, I don't understand people that buy Savage Axis or Remington 783 instead of, lets say an older Parker Hale 1200 or a Huskvarna but that's just my opinion.

If you consider a Tikka T3 amongst the hand made, bespoke rifles from the small rifle manufacturers, you could be right. But an Audi is still far superior to a Chevy.

Candocad.

The real difference between the Savage and the Tikka is that the Savage offering is FUGLY and the Tikka is graceful and easy on the eyes. Other than that, they both shoot like lazers and are very dependable.

One other thing, the Tikka T3 rifles operation is smooth as melted butter on glass. The Savage grinds in both directions.

I have a Tikka T3 lite ss in 6.5x55, and I have a Tikka T3 Hunter in .223...I'm wondering if the OP has ever owned a Tikka...they are by far better than any other rifle I've owned including CZ's and Savages...Can't speak for others that I haven't owned but I love my Tikka's...Every Tikka I've owned shoots on the bench sub MOA...

Again I'm not saying the axis and t3 are the same quality. What I'm saying is the t3 is Europe's budget rifle. I have handled a few tikkas and I'm not overly impressed with them. I'm more of a win m70 and ruger m77 guy.
